Fundraiser in the works

OK. We had a meeting this afternoon with a couple of the kids from the Theater Group and confirmed that the fundraiser for their trip to Europe will be on April 30. They are very excited to have set the ball in motion so it will be plan - plan - plan from here. We met at Harry's (big surprise! Amber works there...) and before we left, two friends came in who both work at the university in the food service department and I secured all of the desserts! What's really nice...Connie used to own and operate a restaurant here and she is an amazing pastry chef! I'm thrilled. Onward and upward!!

I found my other info from the previous benefits that we have done so I can refresh my memory. We have had silent auctions, regular auctions, raffles, door prizes...I just need to formulate the plan.

Husband woke me up this morning to tell me we had no power. I was asleep. I didn't need any power. Imagine that. I'm still not sure what I was supposed to do about it...but I called the Police Dept. who told me there was a line down. OK. So then I called the Electric Company (who is based in Shreveport, LA - go figure) who told me that they were receiving many calls from my area and the only thing they could tell me was that we should have power restored by 7:30 AM. Swell. And I'm awake. What a bummer.

So we decide to walk outside to see what we can see, if anything. We saw flashing lights. Several cars of flashing lights belonging to the Sheriff's Department. Hmmmmmmm...

Upon further investigation, we see a big ol' 18 wheeler smashed into a telephone pole. Hence, the 'lines' down theory. Going west, there is a railroad underpass. I'm guessing this driver might have been a little too tall and decided to hang a right and turn around. Unfortunately, there was a telephone pole in his way. Damn the luck. I think power must have come back on around 8:30. I was sound asleep and for whatever reason I woke up like I'd been shot and it was 8:45. We have two digital clocks and one was flashing 8:30 and the other was not flashing but was at 8:45. The atomic clock said 8:45. It was 8:45. I got up, ate a banana and went to work. The cable was still off but came on about 20 minutes later.

That was an exciting morning. I hope we don't have a repeat.

It was so warm and nice out today. The water will be running on the grass in the courtyard now to hopefully green it up. I know we can get more crappy weather but for now it's great. I love it here. I want to plant something. I'm sure this pang of energy will pass. Soon. It was a little windy off and on today but nothing like what was predicted. I'm glad.

I guess I'll go do something constructive. Make a few lists. Drink some tea. Have a nice night!
