Yeah, yeah....I know you're thrilled. It was so nice to get away. It was so nice to come home. I rested, laughed, played, conducted business, got irritated, got over it, and rested some more.
I am glad to be back, though. I just don't want to go to work tomorrow. We all knew that was going to happen! But we have other issues to address first. Husband is doing a BBQ for the 'rock hunters' here at the Lodge tomorrow. It was a last minute thing. I told him it was up to him, but he was OK with it. I expect there will be 40+ people. We found about it on Wednesday so Husband called the head butcher at the grocery store meat dept. here in Alpine, first, to make sure they had what he needed and they did...so that's when he said OK. He'll cheat and use canned beans and dress up the potato salad...but hey! We're tired! His cooking partners in crime will be here to help him so all will work out.
We flew into Midland last night and stayed at the Best Western. It's a very nice hotel and the one Husband stays at when he goes to Albuquerque VA. They have breakfast, which is good. It was relaxing and I could have slept until noon. Unfortunately, the alarm clock went off at 5:10 AM. Husband smacked it a few times and thought it was off.
Must have hit the snooze button.
It went off again. Husband repeated the process. Smacked it till the noise stopped, again. Guess what? Yep.
The third time, Husband got up and pulled it out of the wall socket. It stopped. Husband was awake. It is now 5:30 AM.
Husband says, "Are you awake?"
"Yes." He knows I am because he heard me say F**KING CLOCK!!!
"Why don't we just get up and get something to eat and get on the road," he sighs. "That way we can go to Wal-Mart and head home." (It's a 24 hour Wal-Mart. I'm sure you figured that out.)
"Fine," I whine.
So we did. Normally I would have been thrilled to go to Wal-Mart. However, there's something about going at 6:00 AM that takes all the fun out of it. At least it's not crowded.
We got fuel and back to Alpine we came. We stopped and picked up all the stuff for the BBQ and came home and took a nap. Now I am watching Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. I'm thinking I need some cereal.
Now I remember why we moved to Texas. It is f**king cold in Wyoming. I stayed inside. It was cold in Las Vegas. I stayed inside. It was f**king cold in Midland this morning. I had to go outside. Dread and despair. It's sunny out right now...but the high tomorrow is supposed to be 42. Shit.
Hmmmm....Law & Order: Criminal Intent is coming on. Oh-oh. Somebody's fixin' to die! It ain't gonna be good! Lots and lots of blood. It's either this or Jason and the Argonauts. Hold on a second....Hoarders in on!! I always feel so neat and clean after I see any of those houses. You can't even call them homes. This one is a corker. It's a mother's house...and her son's house as well! And dogs to boot.
I think I'll eat some cereal and might be back later. Low BS. See ya!
