Show done...Hotter than Hades

It was a pretty good show. Been to better...been to worse. And that friggin' Francine didn't sell anything!! I'm glad I didn't make her a scarf! It wasn't her fault though. She did sell a Christmas ornament, got quite a few oooh's and ahhh's on her hats and handed out some business cards. She had a good time.

It was very hot and very humid. Very uncomfortable. The foot traffic seemed to pick up late...but by ten minutes to five...I was more than ready to go home! Mary Ann and Paul are in town and we went to Jack's house for a BBQ. It was to hot for me to eat, so I just snacked and ate when I got home. I'm not real big on BBQ'd food any more, and they are so sweet that they cook over mesquite wood instead of charcoal for me! Mary Ann and I went through Jack's mail and separated out the good junk from the bad junk and I found a couple pieces that I have been waiting for...Then Husband and I came home. I showered and that was it for me!

I worked today and it was another scorcher. We had some heavy thunder earlier, but no rain yet. It's not ruled out for the rest of the night, so....maybe!

I got a 'Breaking News' on Yahoo that there was a tornado In Billings, Montana!! Very rare. I looked at a few of the photos that are posted...it hit their MetroPlex pretty heavy and had some helacious rain. Lots of power outages.

I am watching To Kill A Mockingbird. What an amazing movie. This ties with The African Queen as my all time favorites.

You all know Husband  is the cook in the family and he is always trying something different. We eat a lot of light type meals...snacking on leftovers mostly, because when he cooks...he cooks quite a bit and we eat till it's gone...but we also like antipasto platters. The other day he decided to make some 'condiments' and combined black and green olives, balsamic vinegar, olive oil, cracked black pepper and freshly grated lemon zest together. He let it sit overnight...and I tell you what...they are DELICIOUS!! Naturally, letting them marinate overnight was the best part. The flavor of the lemon is so infused...mmmmmmmm!!

The members of the City Council here in Alpine, along with other city and county officials are having their annual 'Meet and Greet' (your local government dudes and dudettes) this coming Saturday and Husband is planning the food. It will be cold cut/cheese platters, vegetable and fruit trays and various crackers and what ever else he conjures up. We had it here at the Lodge last year but this year it will be inside at the city offices that have AIR CONDITIONING! I think it's from 3-7 so that will be so much better, should this heat continue. AC is GOOD!! And it's fun doing stuff like that.

Oh Oh! Lightning!! Straight through the curtain! I guess I'll finishing watching my movie and hit the hay. Have a nice evening!

As ready as I'm gonna get

Now I ask you, how am I supposed to make anything when The Incredible Mr. Limpett is on? Huh?? I made quite a bit earlier...but am tired now. So there. I am ready to go and what I sell will be wonderful.

And 33.8 oz. of Smart Water makes you bloated...not smarter. I'm drinking orange juice tonight.

I thought we were going to get some rain this evening. Of course, the night isn't over yet. There was lots of lightning earlier. Maybe...

I need to make a morning checklist and get some sleep. Didn't feel too good today. I am being very cautious about my diet, so I don't think that is it. Just tired.

Well, I'll let you know how it went! Nite...

Craft day approaching

Tubs are packed...tying up the loose ends. Guess what! The craft show doesn't actually start till noon!! We are still going down between 9 and 10 just to insure a good spot (like it really matters...). And now..we set up in the West Texas Bank parking lot. Whatever.

I have some really great rough copper pieces that I am making necklaces out of tonight. I'll wear one at the show. ( I might take a picture but don't hold you breath!) Do you what what pisses me off? (Pretty much everything...) but today, I get home early to do MY stuff...and I end having to do a shit load of crap for everyone else. That's what happened...again...today... so my plans were scrapped. I did get a power nap, so I have a second wind, enough to do some stuff tonight...but I really didn't want to start at 9! At least the bulk of my prep stuff is done.

We had a super rain storm a couple of hours ago. It was furious! Husband said there was 1-1/2 inches of water in the rain gauge. Amazing!! It wasn't a predicted storm...so even better! It's still kind of cloudy out there, so maybe the rain is not over yet.

I got a bottle of Smart Water today. What a contradiction in terms. It has electrolytes in it...but no sugar or salt. I have drank half of it...and feel the same. No  smarter....no electrolyte-ier. Maybe it's a delayed reaction. Maybe I shouldn't drink it so late at night. I know I'll pay for around 3 am. It's a 33.8 Fl oz bottle. What do you think??

Husband is watching Hidalgo. It's a good movie. We have it on DVD. There is another movie on, but no, let's not watch IT...let's watch one we already have...but lets' watch it on TV with commercials. I'll just make jewelry.

And drink Smart Water.

Tom had a little snack a while ago. He likes bean dip. He's an easy keeper.

Gotta get busy...nite!!

It's raining...it's pouring

The old man is snoring...No! Really! He's right here next to me...snoring. I, myself, had a little bobble head motion going on for a bit. It's a good napping environment when it's raining.

It appears that there are a few storms around us. Several are predicted to merge...so it could be an interesting evening. We had some hail earlier that got to quarter size. It's wonderful rain.

Made a few pairs of earrings earlier and need to make a few more. Gotta cross 'em off the list!

I was over in the office earlier looking for some display thingys. Something will catch my eye. I am going to the Dollar Store and Alco tomorrow, so I might find something for the table. Possibly a curtain panel....hmmmm...that could work.

Oh Oh....the lights are flickering. I think I'll take a shower real quick before another storm hits. I can hear my grandmother whispering in my ear...don't go near the water during a thunderstorm!!

One time when we were little, my Aunt Betty (my cousin Susan's mom) and her best friend Betty, took Susan and I swimming. You could see that a thunderstorm was coming...and Susie and I were running around, definitely ready to go because the thunder was getting louder and the lightning was getting closer. Well, the Betty's, were what seemed a mile out in the lake just laughing  and having a great time...and Sue and I were crying and begging them to come out of the water before they were struck and KILLED!! It's funny...now!

I love my family. Honestly..I do and I never tell them enough. I love you.

Have a great night folks!

Gazpacho

I have never eaten gazpacho. But I know I would like it. Sam the Cooking Guy is making it right now, and me thinks I need to get the recipe! Husband will make it...he loves to cook, you know, and will make anything I want. I told him this looked really good...his response? Well...get me the recipe and make out a list! (He is a list person, too)

Here's the funny part about Husband...and shopping. If you want something...write it down. Because if it's NOT on the list...you don't get it! And you have to be careful. I used to call any kind of dishwashing liquid...Ivory Liquid...I have no idea why. Anyway, I put Ivory Liquid on The List. And he bought it. I always use Dawn...but...I did not write Dawn. I wrote Ivory Liquid...and I got Ivory Liquid. Case closed. I swear...I could write down chocolate covered parmesean cheese sicks and he would look till he found them...and buy them. Hey! I am not complaining. He's the shopper and you DON'T mess with the shopper!

I was too tired to make any jewelry tonight. Hopefully I'll perk up tomorrow. I better get real perky before Saturday. I also need to figure out a table cover. When I was in Wyoming, I pretty much always used deer hides. Most of what I sold was Indian and Western oriented anyway, so I used antlers and literally sticks and branches as display tools. I need a tapestry like cover in a brown or tan color I think. Earthy. Everything available around here is nice...but lots of color. Vivid Southwest style. I like it...but too much or too 'busy' prints overwhelm the jewelry. I might just use a colored sheet. If I went to more shows...I'd invest in something nice...I'm sure I'll find something.

I miss coffee. I haven't had any in 3 weeks. Three loooooooong weeks. It's hard being good. Well, kinda good. No, I haven't cheated. I have seriously thought about it...but I haven't done it. Honest. I guess in some ways, I feel better, but still far from how I should feel. Irritating.

I haven't checked my email yet. I'm sure there is nothing earth shattering. I don't even have to look anything up tonight. No Amazon. No ebay. No Overstock. I should turn this off and close my eyes. Yes...that's a good idea! See you tomorrow!

Is Sunday the beginning...or end of the week?

Greetings and salutations! Another hot one...and a very long day. I worked and worked and sweated (didn't lose and ounce, I might add...) and now I am cooling down. I figured I'd better write this now....as I think once water hits this body in a while...I may be fast asleep in no time! I plan to make a few pairs of earrings first...and print off some earring cards. (Craft show countdown - 6 days and counting)

Here's my usual plan of preparation for a show, although not necessarily in this order:

1.Organize 'Sales/Sales tools Box' - Invoice book; pens; Spiral/legal pad; Business cards;
Small size zip lock bags (to fit earring cards); Plastic bags for purchases; Extra 'findngs' i.e.,
earring backs, pin backs, glue, earring cards, various pliers; Tablecover; Glasses; Hand
sanitizer; Hand Lotion; Sun glasses; Tissues; Water; Snacks; Gum; Brush; Wet washcloth (in
zip lock bag); Scissors; Scotch tape; ...get my drift??

I used to go to lots of craft shows and I kept most of the above described stuff in a tackle box...ready to go at a moments notice! I really like organization...and I don't like to wait till the last minute to get myself ready...so I have my craft show 'to-do list' (big surprise) and having the Sales box almost ready is on Sunday...so if I get the earring cards printed tonight...yep! Cross it off the list!!

2. Inventory - Double/triple check how many pairs I have, and pairs of what. Also, necklaces,
bracelets, pins, if any, etc.  Francine's Hats and that f*#king scarf she thinks she has to
    have...

3. Displays - Racks, stands or whatever I can wrangle up to display my stuff...including
    Francine's shiny white head.

4. Anything else - like...what to wear; canopy, maybe;

I really don't have tons to prepare...I just want it all done. Simple.

We are under a severe thunderstorm warning until 7:05 pm.  Who figures these times anyway?? 7:05...not 7:00 or 'around 7:15 or so'...nope...7:05. On Cantorre Stories tonight on the Weather Channel at 9:00 (not 9:05) is about his visit to Marfa, Texas. I hope I am awake to see it!

Something bit me and it itches like a bitch. I have no idea what it was...but it's driving me nuts. I have 'no itch' ointment on it...but it's not helping.

Well...got stuff to do...things to cross off....later!!

Thursday's child is full of crap...

We are watching the Alamo to see if comes out the same as when we last saw it. I think it does.

I am full of guacamole and grapes. I don't know if I'm allowed to eat that or not...didn't check the list. I just did. It looked good and tasted magnificent! And yes...I still want chocolate cake.

Twas a lovely day today..and a beautiful evening. I worked on jewelry and got quite a bit accomplished.

I need to go online (big surprise!!) and find some white tail deer antlers to cut up and make earrings. I can't find any around here and I am in the mood to paint. I'm sure that will pass when I actually get the antlers and cut them up...but right this very minute...I am painter! I am artiste! I am Thursday's child!!

The Fiesta del Sol event extraordinaire is next weekend. I will prepare this week. As I have said, I have been diligently, voraciously, half assedly creating works of art...and if I don't make anything else..I am happy with what I already have to take and, with any luck at all, SELL!! And Francine!! What can I say!! She has been waiting for this for months!

Now she wants at least one scarf to match one of her hats to complete an ensemble! She's such a slut. Showin' off her big ole white head...and I'm thinking it's still gonna stay white unless I get just a little more energetic. I might surprise us both and 'mocha latte' her tomorrow!! I'll move that up on my list...

I got a new phone today. A Razar...I think that's how you spell it. I plugged it in. That's it. Every time I get a new phone and put my SIM card in it...I loose phone numbers. I need to make sure I copy them all down before I make the big SIM card move. I know...they should still be on the card...they should still be in the old phone...I don't know why they aren't there...they just aren't! And it's not all of them...just selected ones. Go figure...

I found a recipe for Bread and Butter Jalapenos. Doesn't that sound interesting? I like jalapenos anyway, but sweet pickled ones?? Yes!! I love pickles and have plenty of them...but I forget to eat them.

I guess I need to go...got a few things to do before I go horizontal...see ya later!

Dark skys and the grunt of drizzle...

Let's see...the breeze seems to picking up out there! I know the rain is all around us again and we have been upgraded to 30% chance of rain before midnight. There are 5 hours and 22 minutes left.

I am full of a lot of things, but right now I am full of Chinese food. Husband killed a chicken and made me a meal. Well...sorta. He ripped the tenders of a flock of Barred Rocks and made me a meal. Kinda. Actually, he bought some chicken tenders at the Thriftway 'Monopoly' Store and
added bean sprouts and mushrooms and onions and celery and bamboo shoots and garlic and...well, you get my drift. Then he cooked it and I ate it. Yummy!!

Guess what...I made it through a whole week of eating the proper food! Well, that's not true. I didn't eat anything from Tuesday to Thursday last week...so not eating at all constitutes me eating properly!

Guess who has a/an herb garden?? Yep! That darn Francine!
I tell ya, she puts on that thinking cap when I leave the room and low and behold...she becomes Francine - The Albino Gardner!

Sure wish she could make money doing something...like modeling. Lazy Bitch.

That basil kinda looks like a Grinch...don't you think?? Well... from here is does.

I feel like eating an entire chocolate cake...right now!! I'm sure I can make jell-o taste like chocolate cake. Yes...I'm sure of it! Don't be stupid. I can have dark chocolate...just not in cake form.

I do believe the storm has passed. The sun is shining bright. It's reflecting off the truck and blinding me...but to actually stand up and close the curtain seems impossible at this minute.

I took a few photos today. I can identify the cactus. I tried to get a closeup of a ladybug. She looked like a smear. Poor thing. I like the thunderhead behind the tree...It looks like a halo. I suck at posting photos!!

We gets some amazing skies around here. I wish I was capable of taking those 'OMG Isn't that bee-u--tea-full' photos. Mine are the 'What the hell were you looking at??' photos...

Years ago we lived in South Texas. The house was one of those big old farm houses with the porch all along the front...14 foot high ceilings...big old windows...big old trees. I loved that house. Well, I took a picture one time...and it took us 10 years to figure out that I had a attempted to capture a butterfly on the screen. I'm telling you...you could turn that photo in a complete 360 degree circle and say 'What the hell were you looking at??' with each revolution. One day, one of the kids said...Wow! Look at the butterfly! And I said...Yeah!! Isn't that amazing? Hey! I'm not going to admit I'm too stupid to remember what I was looking at! To this day I still can't see a friggin' butterfly in there.

Husband is making some jelly. Port wine jelly. It smells great. It would go great with chocolate cake!!

See ya!

Where DO the days go!!

Time is a state of mind...unless you are out of it. Then...you would be out of time and out of your mind.

It really wasn't a stressful weekend. Usual shit. Hot, work, home, shower, sleep. It is Tuesday and I have no idea how I got here.

Right now...I am watching DEA...picking up a few pointers. Husband brought home supper. There is a new 'restaurant' in town...I think I mentioned it...Big Bend Roadhouse?? Burgers, pizza and stuff...they have a Philly Cheese Steak sandwich that sounded good...so Husband brought one home for me...less the bread. It is very good. Very thin sliced beef with grilled onion, peppers and melted cheese. Very generous portion. I'll definitely get it again. Husband got the 'regular' burger which was huge and, according to him, very tasty! He has to watch the red meat intake but burgers seem to not be as lethal r some reason. I really need to get a good roast and make my own Philly Cheese...but a 'bring home' fit the bill tonight.

I made some earrings today...and since I am on a roll...I might make a few more pairs tonight. Maybe. I feel better since eating this evening, but am still taking it very slowly. Been watching to food intake religiously.

We had another late afternoon rain storm. A little thunder...and not a lot of rain...but enough to cool it down.

Oh Oh...it's thundering again! And there is not a breath of air moving out there....ominous!!

Husband needs to decide what to watch on TV tonight. As usual...nothing on. We got 'It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World' today. That's a funny movie...lots of stars. Now wait a second...it is Dennis Hopper day on TCM...and the movie playing now is 'Sons of Katie Elder'.  I would like to see 'Easy Rider'...but nooooooooooo...let's not play that while I'm awake!!! Hell no!!! THAT movie comes on at 1:00 AM!!!!

Oh Oh...just had a power surge...may not be watching anything!!

Well...hell...I'll just make some earrings. Francine is watching TV anyway...no use talking to her.

I will work till I start getting a headache. I have had one every evening for the past few days...one of the reasons why I haven't been writing anything.

Tom is watching the birds out the window. Lots of dove are feeding out there. He loves the doves. Oh Oh ...thunder....

Have a great night...

Francine...

Aha!!

Francine is smarter than you think she is!!!

b

Damn it's hot!!!!!

Welcome to Hell!!! It's just-a screaming hot! A very good time to stay IN THE HOUSE!

I went to work this morning for only a couple hours. That's all the work there was...and that's all the work we did. And it wasn't too hot at that time. I ate food and drank water before I went. And took my time. I came home, turned off my phone and took a nap! SO out of character for me. I used to feel that I should have been doing something....and not wasting time taking a nap!! Guess what! Those days are long gone!! Nap time!!

I have to admit that it was one of those semi-sleeping/dozing naps cuz 'Flip This House' was on! I like those shows. So, I dozed on and off  through it and managed to miss the end where it showed the finished house!! Oh well...

Then, Husband and I went to Jack's to get his paperwork so I can send it to him at the hospital in El Paso.

Then, we came home and Husband went on to do his 'things of the day' and I came in and did nothing! Wait a minute! I took a photo of Albino Francine! Here she is...

She wanted to go out and get a little sun this afternoon, but it was a too hot so she decided just to hang out for a while.

She needs a straw hat today.

Might be back later. I need soup. Have a nice evening!

Feel Better - Do what your Dr tells you the FIRST time!!

It's a combination of things. Number one - Heat exhaustion. Two - Exhaustion. Three - pay attention to what is wrong with you and quit doing just the opposite. Idiot.

I know it's been hot here. It hadn't officially gotten to that dreaded 100 mark on Tuesday, but it was certainly hot enough. That, combined with me eating food that day that I seriously shouldn't have eaten, and yes, I WAS drinking plenty of water, and I had used excessive cleaning products, and pushed myself when I knew I wasn't feeling good...all of it together made me sick-er. Sick enough that when I got home, I puttered around a bit till Husband got home. I was puttering because I felt I couldn't get out of my own way. Remember I told you I felt foggy? I was real foggy! I told Husband I felt really tired. He said, lay down a while and just rest. I did, but I was by then really achy. More so than I usually am. I felt excessively dry and hot, like I had a fever. I even thought I might have the flu. But I still wasn't thinking straight. I was just SO tired and dizzy. I slept...didn't eat...or drink anything. I woke up a few times. But around 4 am I got up and went to the bathroom. I don't even have to open my eyes to do this. I did what you do in there, stood up and the room was spinning and down I went. But I hit the wall with my forehead first. Next thing I remember was Husband putting me on the bed. He wanted to take me to the ER but I said no. But I didn't lay down, either! I was thinking about everyone who has recently died from a head injury!! Called DR in the AM and rest is history.

I had no idea how ill the heat and already being exhausted could make you. I certainly do now. Please...if I learned anything from the past few days...it's to respect the power of the weather!

Not all blood tests back yet but I know so far that I am not anemic or diabetic. What I do know...is that my electrolytes were dangerously low, hence the dryness and confusion & dizziness. Potassium level low...which seems strange, as I have been taking the prescribed extra dose, as well as the banana a day thing. The heat..I tell ya!! And of course me being too bitchy and eating the wrong foods.

I remember saying that I originally thought that Fybromyalgia was, you know, not real...and then realizing that it WAS real...well I must have lost that thought pattern and assumed that I was healed. I wasn't. And most likely will never be...so I will change everything in my life now.

Eating habits...exercise plan (nothing to do with work although you'd think I get enough exercise there!)...working habits (speaking of work) and much more me time.

My body was shutting down on the inside and I could be a lot worse off than I am.

I have been legitimately eating OK...on a good vitamin regimen...seriously drinking proper fluids...and a lot of them...but it wasn't enough.

But I am on the road to recovery. Thanks for caring. Onward and upward!!

Happy Birthday yesterday Susie!!

Not feeling well...at all

I'll be back in a few days...
