(I actually wrote this last night...but it wouldn't post...)
I'll be glad when fall/winter gets here. I seriously mean it. And I hope it's cold. I want to dress in layers. I want my nose to be cold. I want a crisp fall morning...the smell of leaves...dead leaves. I want snow. I want Christmas. It's so friggin' hot it makes me sick. And it's humid. I'm wilting. Shit.
I thought we were going to get rain today. There was some thunder, lightning...seriously black clouds...no rain. Not a drop. Shit.
I bought a box of Betty Crocker Chewy Fudge Brownie Mix to tease myself with. I thought about making them. Changed my mind. Thought about it a little longer. Still didn't make them. Then I heard about the egg recall. I'm too lazy to walk 10 feet to see if I have any of them. Would I die if I baked them in the brownies?? I already hard boiled 8 from the carton and Husband ate 3 and I ate one...so far. We are still here. How long does it take to contract salmonella? Do you get a crampy and bloated feeling...like I have ALL the time...how would I know the difference? Now I am hungry for a boiled egg. Shit.
Did I tell you about my conversation with the VA in Big Spring?? I think I should bill the VA for this.
Scenario: I have registered Husband on the 'myhealthyvet' website where I am able to renew prescriptions with ease. At least...I used to be able to. Until Monday night. There were no prescriptions there. None...'Huh'...I said.
Simple Solution: Call VA for a refill.
'Hello...my name is Brenda Condra and I logged on to myhealthyvet to re-order prescriptions for my husband and they were mysteriously....well...not there! Can you help me? Sure I can hold'.
(musical interlude)
'Yes...my name is Brenda Condra and I logged on to myhealthyvet to order prescriptions for my husband and they were...what? No I need to order his medications'.
'Yes, I have ordered them many times on line. I don't know why there aren't there...that's why I'm calling you'. (Dumb ass) Sure I can hold'.
(musical interlude)
'Yes? I have no idea who I am holding for. I need to order medication for my husband. Yeah...that would be great...transfer me to the pharmacy. Sure I can hold'.
(hmmmm...no music...wait...'Thanks for calling the Big Spring Veteran's Hospital. We are here to offer the best care for our Veterans...blah blah blah....someone will be with you momentarity.)
'Oh hello...is this the pharmacy? Great. I need to order medication for my husband which I normally do on-line. Yes...there is a problem. I can't do it...because it's not there. What do you show on your computer? No refills? Do you know why?? He had 2 refills of each last month. Yeah...me neither'.
Sooooo....what do I need to do to get these meds? Make an appointment with his primary care doctor who issues them? Well...they are both in Albuquerque. He was just there last week!! OK, no problem I'll call them. Thanks'.
Son of a Bitch!!
Ringy dingy.
'Yes...would you please connect me with Dr. Last or Dr. Serkland please. I don't care...either one...I need to talk to both of them. You pick'.
Dr. Last - 'I am out of the office at this time.................'. Shit.
Dr. Serkland - 'Please leave a message and I will............'. Shit.
I know! I'll call the new clinic in Fort Stockton and set up an appointment with Dr. King and she can issue new perscriptions!
Let's see. Back to Big Spring...this is where it gets good.
"Hello. I need the phone number for then new clinic in Fort Stockton. What? You don't have it? It is a VA Clinic...right?? A VA clinic out of Big Spring...right?? And you don't have the phone number. Hmmmm...we'll let me figure this one out."
"What? Yes... my husband and I were there 2 weeks ago for the Open House and I looked for a phamplet or card for information which was no where to be found. Un-huh, well...they ended up taking my husband right in and actually made arrangements for him to go to Albuquerque and I just plain forgot to ask for the phone number there. What I need to do is make an appointment with Dr. King."
"Ok...I see what I can find. Pardon me? Sure!! If I find a number I'll call you back. Have a great day."
So...I go to the VA website - Big Spring - Services Offered - AHA! Specialty clinic in Fort Stockton! Brilliant! Hmmm...the phone number listed sounds familiar??
Ringy Dingy..."Dr. Mallik's office..." (no wonder it sounded familiar! Old DR!! )
"Hello...this is Brenda Condra. By any slim chance would you know how to contact the new VA clinic? Ok...sure...if you could transfer me that would be great! So it's the same number as the Pecos County Hospital with this extension? Wonderful...thanks!!"
She transfers me...no answer. Hmmm...they are open on Tuesday and Friday...strange. It's Tuesday. I dial the number myself...just because. No answer. Shit.
I call Big Spring back. I speak to Wynette, I give her the phone number. I'm a nice guy.
She sends me to Scheduling...I explain that I want to make an appointment for my husband at the clinic in Fort Stockton. "Sure"...he says." I can set one up for September 17."
Really.
"Let me call you back to confirm," I say. I have a headache. All I wanted to was order Husband's medication. I'll start this shit again tomorrow.
I think I should charge the VA for giving them the phone number to their own clinic. So there.
I am going to go eat a boiled salmonella egg. Hope I'm back tomorrow! Nite...

Elvis is dead....and I don't feel so good myself...
I stole that line from Lewis Grizzard. He's dead, too, but I still like him. I must have been busy...it's been almost a week! Huh, imagine that.
Let's see...where to start. Husband is watching Pearl Harbor. The shooting in this movie is giving me a headache. Lots-o-gunfire. Sad movie, too. But great actors in it. Graphic.
It was a long day on Saturday, but later in the evening was a treat. There were two guests staying here, Kay and Julie, who I struck up a conversation with and then (sorry girls!) I stuck them with Husband and Paul. They were in town to visit with Julie's daughter who is a student at Sul Ross University and were going to Texas Fusion for dinner. I told them to come over later...and low and behold....they sure 'nough drug their chairs on over. It's odd how sometimes people cross your path...even know some of the same folks you do...and it turns into a relaxing evening of funny conversation. I'm glad I met them. Their plans are to return and I look forward to visiting with them again.
And then....it was Sunday. KILLER Sunday. And now it's Monday. Calm Monday. Loved it.
I need to get busy. I got a call from the manager of the gift shop at the Paisano Hotel in Marfa who wanted to know if I was still making jewelry. Naturally, I said yes!! (I'm not an idiot!) Well, she'd love to see some things when I get a chance. I will be 'getting a chance' next week sometime so I'll get busy...tomorrow. We all know I have tons of stuff to make tons of stuff with...I just need to sit down and do it. They like more of the natural stone and local agate pieces. They also like magnets with the roadrunner painted on them...but I'm not sure I can go that far.
Oh-oh...Part Two of Pearl Harbor...
I'm full. I just ate two bowls of Multi Grain Cheerios. Big bowls. That's a lot of Cheerios. Now I'm drinking Earl Gray tea. Not real smart at 9 PM.
Oh! I don't have diabetes...I have Hypoglycemia. I called it faux-diabetes as the symptoms are so similar. There is both diabetes and hypoglycemia in my family's history. I am seriously glad I have physical control over this and don't have to take any medicine. I have been on this vitamin regimen for over two months now and I have noticed tremendous changes in my health. I just have to get this eating thing under control. I have lost quite a bit of weight and was getting a little worried, but I feel more at ease now, not overly confident...but enough to celebrate with the overindulgence of Cheerios!
It's still the heat that is kicking my ass, though.
I bought some Yankee Candle Sweat Pea Air Freshener. I smells wonderful!!! I have a few of the tea light candles and have never burned them. That's mostly because I just found them. They are so light and sweet smelling...mmmmm!!
Remember when I told you how filthy Pizza Hut and McDonald's were? Dairy Queen is equally as filthy.
Question of the day!!! - Why did you eat there???
Answer - We were hungry...and made the mistake of going inside and seeing the floor. Good thing we couldn't see the kitchen. Good thing they didn't drop anything within our line of sight!
They didn't get the order correct...and we were the ONLY ONES THERE!!!
Word of the day - Inept
Well...time to wash my anatomy. Good night!

Such a busy schedule!!
Let's see...I have been so very busy!! Went to Fort Stockton with Husband today to visit with the folks at the new [alleged] VA Patient Facility. We marched right in like we owned the place and after Husband removed his shirt and exposed his latest incision which had been performed here in Alpine at our fine Medical Center...the new Doc in charge felt it was necessary for him to get to Albuquerque ASAP. She took all pertinent information down, said she would contact powers that be in ALBQ and then contact Husband no later than tomorrow. We had just sat down to lunch...approximately 1 1/2 hours later....when his phone rang and Doc said Husband is to be in ALBQ on Thursday AM. SUPER! Next was arranging travel through Big Spring.
Evidently, the duties of the VA employees at the Big Spring VA have changed. The woman who used to handle travel...no longer does. So...once again, you have to introduce yourself to and tolerate the 'new guy' who s not familiar with 'you'. This was evident today when Husband called for a plane tickets. 'New Travel Girl' said she was busy and would deal with this when she could. Husband said, 'sure', and explained, however, it needed to be done today...as we live in Alpine and he needed to fly out at 7:35 AM from Midland on Thursday and his DR appt. was at 11:00 AM, and since time was of the essence...
'Well,' she said, 'We don't just do it your way anymore...you have to sign a form that I will fax to you, and then I have to call ALBQ since they have to pay for the ticket, blah, blah, blah.'
Husband said to do whatever. He said to fax the form to the office and he would sign it as soon as we got back to Alpine and he would fax it back immediately. Which he did. More crap was said and he went back into Alpine to do some stuff and I went home. About an hour later...oh yeah...while I faxed the paper back Husband called NTG and told her the fax was in route and she said she was busy had other Vets to take care of and she would get to it, after all, it was 3:15 and she was busy. It was actually 2:15 and she just had to call ALBQ (which is an hour EARLIER!!) since they had to take care of this!!!
Anyway, about an hour later, I called her, being the 'nice one' to see if she was able to make the arrangements. She didn't answer, I got the machine, left the message. Repeated same, 20 minutes later. Now it's 4:15. I'd really like to get this done as I wasn't really kicky on having to deal with this crap in the AM.
LIGHTBULB!! Call ALBQ myself!! Duh! Sooo...I get Jesse in travel and he gives me the Confirmation # for the flight, time and flight number. Hmmmm...the time is 8:20 AM. That don't sound right!! I go to the Southwest website and check it. Oh, there's an 8:20 AM flight alright. It goes to Houston, then Dallas, change planes and gets into ALBQ at 11:10 AM.
What's wrong with this picture? Husband's appointment is at 11:00...flight gets in at 11:10. Bitch...
Soooooo...I call Southwest and talk to Pam!! She looks everything up...changes the flight to the 7:35 AM, non-stop...which arrives in ALBQ only an HOUR later...TA DA!!! I'll print off the boarding pass in the morning, Husband will go to Midland tomorrow afternoon and stay at a hotel rather than getting up at 3:00 AM and driving, and off he goes.
It's amazing to me how such a simple thing becomes so tedious! It's 6:36 PM and I have yet to hear from Travel in Big Spring. Surprise.
That was one of the 'busies'. Now I forgot what the other ones were. I might remember later.
Gotta go eat something. Later for more newsy news.

Rambo
I am not a Rambo fan. Sorry to disappoint all of you die hard fans out there...but he does nothing for me. Yes he does. He makes me leave the room. And I don't like Rocky, either. And I make this declaration without EVER seeing a Rocky movie!! And I never will. No, no...don't send it to me...cuz I ain't gonna watch it. Save your money and buy me....hmmmm...Sean Connery! Now there's a man!! I think I have mentioned this before. I would seriously consider permanently marking my forehead with a blue line and be his assistant in Medicine Man!
It's like...if you could invite 5 people...living or dead...for dinner...who would you ask? (I'd opt for 5 clones of Sean Connery) But it's quite a difficult decision to make. I'm not sure I could tell you. Not that I don't want to...I just can't make up my mind.
Of course there would be Sean Connery...and...(I am not including family members or BFF's so don't look for your name...) Gregory Peck...and...Sandra Bullock...I like her, that's why...Harrison Ford...You can see that I am pretty shallow. No Jesus, Aristotle, Abe Lincoln, Betty Crocker types...Hey! It's my dinner!! I'll keep thinking...
I am ready for a shower and the last few pages of my book. I am full...now I need to be clean. Now I want a 3 Musketeers bar....friggin' commercials.

OK...I'm better now
Kinda...it's just so hot and I am still having a hard time getting completely...umm...better. I drink so much water I should have gills. And I hate(d) water. Now, I am liking ice water. Go figure.
But I hate to have too many days go by (yes...I remember that 6 month stretch...) with out writing because then I forget what I do or did. Of course, most of my posts are ranting and bitching...so there's not a whole lot to remember anyway.
I was busy today. I worked by myself. Actually, Jennifer came in for a few hours to help me which I truly appreciated...but Bobbie and Raven weren't here. They had a DR appt in EL Paso for Raven's son. So I did what I usually do. Threw out stuff and took my time. I made myself busy. It was self induced. I drank a container of vegetable soup and dug the vegetables out with my finger directly into my mouth for lunch and now I am trying to decide what to eat for supper. I am thinking cereal. I love cereal. I bought a package of those individual butterscotch pudding cups yesterday. I might need a couple.
I have to drink this 'colon cleanse' stuff on Monday/Tuesday. Not that yummy maple syrup & cayenne concoction that my best friend Demi drinks for 10 days...arrgggghhh!!! But some DR stuff. At least I can add it to those little bottles of Sunny D and slug it down in one gulp. Before it gets too thick. And slimy...and then chunky. Jesus...kill me now! BUT!!! It really does make me feel better! I am waiting with baited breath.
I am crocheting a new hat for Francine to sell at the craft show. It's red, white and black. I haven't decided if I like it yet. She doesn't give a shit. All she thinks about is money. Selfish bitch!
I hate commercials. I could eat a DQ Blizzard right now. And not one of those 'mini Blizzards'. A grand daddy of 'em all Blizzard! It would surely put me in a coma interrupted only by intense bolts of pain which would jettison through my body... but what a way to go...And that 'flamed broiled burger from Burger King'?? Got my name ALL over it!
I got a book the other day on beads (big surprise) and their healing properties. I looked through it, but haven't read it. I am looking for a book on rosaries and prayer beads. I don't know why. Don't ask me again. I have a mysterious side...you know.
Well...I think I'll eat some cereal. The box of mini shredded wheat beckons me. I'M COMING!!!!

Oh man...I am feeling kinda sick like...
THIS WAS FROM YESTERDAY - MONDAY
Know why? I just ate half of a pint of Blue Bell Ice Cream. The orange and vanilla swirl...a half of a pint of decadent Dreamsicle...It was soooo smooth going down. Big mistake...HUGE mistake....
I thought a nap would help. Nope. Wrong. Maybe I shouldn't have eaten the sherbert.
I waited all day to eat since it was very hot here today. We were done early. Even ran to the store (for the ice cream) and I didn't over exert myself this afternoon...it was definitely the ice cream!
THIS IS FROM TODAY - TUESDAY
Guess what I got sick enough yesterday to stop writing! Can you believe it!
Well....I fell the same way tonight. Sorry....gotta go....just don't feel well at all....maybe it wasn't the ice cream....(stress??? more later)

are you SURE there aren't 32 days in July??
Hmmm...I was filling out my time sheet and there it was...7/32/2010! Yeah yeah...I was the one writing it...give me a break! I was tired and it was only 9:00AM!! I was finally able to get my proverbial shit together...and organized myself...30 days has Septemeber, April, June and....I remember now.
Alas, I have suffered a medical setback...nothing critical, but enough to piss me off...and it's to my advantage. Holy shit! That sounds selfish!! But I am definitely using it to my advantage.
Yes!! I am a selfish bitch...and proud of it!! I was the queen of Bitch 101...Husband used to say I was Valedictorian of my class!! And now...it is time for me to live up to it!! And in a good way!!
So here I go...the List Queen...The Craft Queen...the online shopping Queen!! Triple Queen!! There is a place for me in Queen heaven!!! Oops! That sounds nasty...I mean, as I have said many times before...I will be the Queen of Hell! Don't want to loose my standing!
Even Francine is happy. She is benefiting from my creativity. What a gal!!
Yummy...this is what we ate last night...and I finished off tonight. Cooked with Yukon Gold potatoes...and bacon...Yum!
And meat loaf...and watermelon pickles...
Thank you MS...Garden-'ess' extraordinaire!!
I love vegetables...all vegetables. My Grandmother used to cook pot roast...no...it was a chuck roast...more flavor, she claimed, and would add ton's of vegetables...carrots, turnips, cabbage, celery, potatoes, everything! And I would eat all of them...as opposed to the meat. She was a meat woman. I was a vegetable woman. But I loved raw hamburger...go figure.
I ordered a silicone bunt cake pan. It was $4.99 on the' E Bay Daily Deal'. Will I die from this?
Or would I have to actually EAT the pan itself...to cause death or serious illness...or will I have irreversible liver damage from the use alone...I don't care...I'm making a cake anyway...someday.
Thank God MASH is over...Barney Miller is on. I can tolerate this show. Enough of my life time has passed that I can't remember any of them...so they are ALL new episodes to me! MASH is over and over and over...Husband likes it. I am such a good wife.
It's almost shower time and I need one. I just realized that I must fulfill another list item before I sleep. I'll confer with Francine. She just might get that scarf she wanted! She has a list, too.
I am off to become one with water...Later!!
