Man...that shower felt good!! It was a long and dirty day. Tomorrow will be longer and dirtier. Can't wait!! (can you detect the sarcasm in this font??) I am trying to get the energy to pack a box. It's not coming. I don't physically have that far to go...it's not that...I really need to ...yes...that's the word!! DOWNSIZE!! Fancy name for throw a bunch of shit out!! I'm not in a shit throwing mood. Unusual for me...
I may have just blown up my printer. Not quite sure. It wasn't printing right last night...so I did everything troubleshooting told me to do...didn't work...so, finally, it states that possibly I need to unplug it from the wall. It wasn't the UN-plugging that caused the problem. It was the loud POP accompanied by the SPARK when I plugged it back in that 'sparks 'my curiosity. I'll wait a half an hour to see if it cures itself!!
Tom is waiting for yogurt. He's irritating me. He's just staring at me. It appears he doesn't understand that I am not in the mood for yogurt this second. I'm working on it. Then I will find a movie to watch. Husband is watching SHOOTER for the second night in a row. It's not a bad movie...and I like Mark Wahlberg. Husband says it's because nothing else is on. Tonight...I'll be the judge of that. I think a little light hearted humor.
Well...I will go select...SHOOTER dead. Wahlberg lives another day. Have a great one!!

closer to another busy weekend
Got off work a little earlier today, so I will catch up on a few things. I did laundry, and made the mistake of looking around the property and saw more and more vehicles driving in....yuck! There is a chance of rain tonight. I hope so. Of course we need it...but it would settle the dust as well.
I plan to knit/crochet a couple of hats tonight. I'm definitely not in a jewelry making mood...no creative spirit. The poor teddy bears are still in limbo. I need to sew and don't want to do that either.
I only took a very few photos of the 'trip'...
This is what I saw out the window of the plane looking straight down. Looks hard...doesn't it.
This is how pretty the plane looks on the ground. I'm sure it would be a hell of a mess when they were trying to recover my body parts.
This is my winning ticket from the BIG SPIN!!! (I won $2.00). I am planning on sending it to the IRS. The picture...not the $2.00.
Husband in line for a Nathan's hot dog. As you can see...we only eat gourmet meals!
Bye Bye Las Vegas!
See...I told you I take stupid photos. There's a few more...but they would on here sideways. Oh well.
I have news...we are moving. Nothing to get too excited about. We will still be here...but at the back of the property in a larger room. (Lucky 21) I have an incentive to stay a while longer...but I am still weighing my options. More details to follow....
Well...enough for right now...thanks for looking! Bye!

I'm back ....so what! you say...
In case you haven't noticed...I have been gone. The hell you say. Uh Huh! I say. But I am back. Actually I haven't gone all this time...just not enough energy to write anything. We went to Salt Lake VA...and then on to Vegas and now...back in Alpine. It was fun. I slept a lot and I really needed it. I am definitely glad I went...and if you can believe it...I missed this place. Well...I missed my friends. Husband went to hospital (damn! Salt Lake City was cold!!) and then shot in a pistol match in Las Vegas. I gambled and won and lost and won and lost...you get the picture. Good thing was...I came home with money. ALWAYS a good thing! But mostly I slept and moaned and groaned. The bed was made of concrete. The linens were crap but the towels were really nice! I soaked in the bathtub till I looked like a Craisin. And I smelled good.
When we got home, Husband had planned this Mexican dinner/supper. Let's see... We made (bought) home made tamales (mmmmmmm). Made green chicken enchiladas out of real green chickens. Cheese enchiladas...ummmm...beans and rice....pico de gallo...guacamole...beer...I think that's it. Oh...spanish rice. Nothing was left except apporximately one cup of rice which I ate. Oh yeah...I said rice already..sorry. It was all very good, so I was told.
Now it's time to plan Thanksgiving dinner. As long as I have a pumpkin pie left over for breakfast...I'll be happy. Why don't I make pumpkin pie in August?? Answer me that.
Houskeeping has a plan for Thanksgiving. We are going to knock on the door and say...Happy Thanksgiving...do you need towels or not? Thank you. Have a nice day.
Now I have to get back in the craft making thing. I mean seriously. The craft show is December 4th and 5th. I love working under pressure anyway. My road to good intentions is getting longer and steeper!
It was chilly this morning and I liked it. I can guarantee it will be chilly again tomorrow. (25 at 9:00 am today) No wind...no rain...so it feels good..and warmed up nicely. I have no idea what the forecast for next week is...not that I have any control. I hope it's nice on Thanksgiving day. A couple of years ago it snowed several inches and was BEAUTIFUL!!
Ouch ouch!! I have carpal top of the hand syndrom!! No I don't...I'm just not used to writing this much!! Ouch!! Pain.
Well...it's shower time. Husband is watching WWII on the history channel...so I have time for a 25 minute shower before some critical hunting show comes on. I have a new Woman's Day magazine with cookie recipes...I'll entertain myself. Have a nice nite!!

Another day older...Saint Peter
Snip Snip...just been a cuttin' and a cuttin'...there are scraps of felt everywhere! No...I didn't sew or stuff a bear. Don't ask. Instead...I cut out at least 50 ornaments. They are cute pocket style (where you can stuff an buck or two or ten) bears, dogs, cats, Santas...fun to sew. There are quite a few small pieces, so I do a marathon cutting spree and bag them up accordingly.
Then...I sew all the ears...then the tails...then the hearts...I know you got my drift.
We made the flight arrangements for the 'TRIP'. We haven't told Tom yet. I'd rather wait till the last minute...that way he doesn't start making party plans. He's such a slut when we are gone!
We are watching the Lobster fishermen on the Discovery channel. I like this show and Deadliest Catch. I can't even imagine!! I won't hardly fish from the shore...much less be on a boat! Husband wants to take a cruise. I think it would be great as long as we don't leave the port! I am not a floater or a flyer.
This jaunt to Vegas has me concerned. It's been a while since I've had 6 screwdrivers in 30 minutes just to board a damn plane. The flight leaves at 4:30 in the afternoon...so I have ALL day to work myself into a migrane.
Mantra - Loves those slots...love those slots...
Well, time to get wet and sew some tails. Have a wonderful day!

New baby!!!!!
Bobbie's daughter Raven had a baby boy! Yipee! 2 weeks early...but she went into labor this am. She was scheduled for a c-section on Oct. 28 so DR felt it was advisable to deliver. 6 lb.- 8 oz. and 19". No name as yet. A couple being mulled around.
Guess what. Julie came by today to explain why she wasn't here this weekend. Legit medical reasons...I told her to come back to work tomorrow. Just too much going on and we need her. That's that. I must say that I admire her for coming here. She needs this job and needed to explain. 'nough said. It was busy today. All room rentals were after 9 last night. At 8:30 there were only 4 outs. This morning there were 8! Good for business...but so much for an early day.
I just ate some ice cream and will take a shower in a few minutes. I think I will not be long for this world.
I finished 3 pairs of earrings and laid out 2 necklaces. I have decided to lay out the pattern on the bead board...take a photo of it (in case I don't feel like stringing it...which I never do!) and then put the beads in a ziplock bag for later. Deciding on the pattern is half the battle.
I must sew the bear bodies tomorrow. I got the filling today, so I hope to get them assembled tomorrow. Can't remember if I mentioned that I somehow broke the bobbin winding assembly on my new computerized sewing machine that I just HAD to have (have no idea how I broke it, either) And I didn't win the bid on e-bay for the electric bobbin winder (what a novel idea) and I'm too cheap to pay full price...so I will take the bobbins and thread to the laundry room and wind them to use tomorrow. It beats bringing another machine over here.
I'll eventually find the part on line. Sad part is that I'm too dumb to use the machine. It's 'new fangled'. I won't play the computer games in Vegas cuz they are too complicated and use too much change. I'd rather put in a nickle (or five) at a time and pull the handle. Good old manual labor. But I bought a computerized sewing machine. Go figure. I know that whole paragraph made no sense...but it did to me.
Absolutely beautiful day today. Comfortably warm in the day and cool and crisp at night. Perfect.
I'm off to get wet...have a nice night.

long and rainy day
It didn't actually rain all day..but several good showers. It was another long and very busy day...tomorrow will be light(er). Had a few walk ins this evening due to the rain...but we should be out early.
I got out some beading stuff....made a pair of earrings...didn't like them. Replaced the copper beads with silver and liked them a little better. Just not in the mood to do anything. Maybe tomorrow afternoon. I have the ideas...just not the energy.
Half assed watching Angel and the Badman. All assed not paying much attention! Mr. Carson just got a basket full of donuts. I could use a donut right about now. That reminds me...I saw a strange menu item. Supposedly Krispy Kreme makes a bacon cheeseburger...on a Krispy Kreme donut! Now THAT sounds nutritious and delicious!!
I bought a digital camera a couple of months ago and I think I need to learn how to use it before we go on 'vacation'. My old one is fine and I will probably regret not taking that one...but I really need to learn how to use this one. And I like the color. Burgundy...
I am trying to find a small shoulder bag...only big enough for the camera and a brush. I never carry a purse and I will carry my ID and any cash in my front pocket. I am not a fanny pack person but I also don't want to carry anything in my hand (picky bitch, ain't I)
Oh Oh...Quirt Evans is chasing down the bad guys! Those horses are MOVING!! It always amazes me that anyone can sit on a horse...STAY on a horse and ride that fast. I love horses..I am scared of heights. Thick socks make me dizzy. Once I get on the horse, I'm fine..it's the anticipation of falling off and killing myself that drives me nuts. Husband is a cowboy (among other things) and back in the day when I would watch him work cattle I was in awe that he sat so straight in the saddle and literally sailed past me at what seemed to be at least 50 MPH. It still makes the hair on my neck stand up.
Well...till tomorow (or so) Have a nice night...

Liar Liar
Well...I am completely full of shit all the way around!!
#1 - Julie? Didn't show up. 2 days in a row. Scratch everything nice I said about her.
#2 - Having the flu would be a step up! I am tired, cranky, itchy, legs ache, veins stick out like a road map of LA, bitchy (nothing new)!
#3 - Didn't make the pie...but.......I made cherry cobbler which was a big hit.
The BBQ was nice. Jack really enjoyed himself. He turned 88. Not a huge crowd, but an assembly of really good friends. Husband did really good on the chicken.
Extremely busy day yesterday and again today. Tomorrow...ditto. Then, a little slower until Friday. I am counting down the days (literally) until the 8th of November. We have been back in Texas for over 4 1/2 years. I have been to Ft. Stockton 5 times, Odessa twice, El Paso once and San Antonio once. I NEED to get out of here! I hope I come back with a better attitude. My friends will appreciate it, I'm sure. I will make a check list for the 'countdown of things to do' when I am done with this.
Since I haven't been on a plane since well before September 11, I need to scale down everything to 'travel size'. I am definitely NOT high maintenance, cosmetics foo-foo stuff is not an issue...but I need shampoo, conditioner...you know...that stuff. I am also not a fancy dresser. I wear jeans and t-shirts. That's it. An iron is a vitamin. But I'll at least find one good shirt and clean socks.
Wait...I am a liar. I have been to Odessa 3 times. Oh my God! I am a world traveler!
Even though I am at death's door...I managed to make 4 pairs of earrings tonight. Big Whoop. I need to buck up and get busy.
We had a very slight rainstorm this evening. A couple good claps of thunder and a lightning strike close enough to knock the power out. Rain is predicted for tomorrow afternoon and evening. Hopefully.

even earlier day
I didn't do much last night. I was asleep before 9.I think that 'prevention medicine' has me feeling not so good. Maybe it's all in my head. I am so physically tired that I don't want to think about anything. Tonight I'm achy. Maybe it is flu symptoms...and this med may be helping. Who the hell knows.
Thank goodness there was practically nothing today. The new girl (Julie) is great. She just goes about her business and it's such a relief not to have to show someone how to work.
Husband is cooking chicken for a friend's birthday tomorrow night. I am supposed to make a cherry pie (Billy Boy...Billy Boy). We'll see. It's a good thing I don't have to do it tonight. There would be NO cherry pie (charming Billy). It's 7:19 and I am ready to go to sleep. Tonight I feel flu-y. Enough whining.
Next time you hear from me I'll be a barrell 'o laughs. Have a nice nite!

Done early
Early day today...so I am writing this NOW! I'm making some necklaces tonight. Just cuz I want to. I have so many half done things...but today I need to do something different.
If I get anything done completely...I'll post a photo. (Don't hold your breath)
I will now become creative! Bye!

Ho Hum!!
Busy busy!! The brain is justa bursting with ideas. If only there were 37 hours in a day!! No...I'm NOT on crack...I am on Amantadine. And what (you ask) is Amantadine??? I shall explain.
The flu, albeit swine, avian, bovine or feline..is rampant. This, we all agree on. Well, Bobbie's grandchildren have been officially diagnosed with flu and Joseph is in the hospital. He is a special needs child, and it's so critical that he be monitored especially when breathing/pneumonia is involved. When Bobbie called to give me an update last night, she said that the Dr. said that it was advisable for [her] and any one she had a lot of contact with to take a 'preventative dose of flu medication'.
This morning I called the Dr's office and explained that I, literally, am with Bobbie every day...all day and I wanted what ever it was I needed to take. The nurse asked if I was exhibiting any flu like symptoms... headache, achy (how do you spell achey), fatigue? I wanted to tell her that I felt like that EVERY day...but I said 'no'. Seriously, why would I want to pay for an office visit and perhaps blood work!! I think NOT!! Anyway...she called in the prescription. THEN...I called my boss and asked him if he would pay for both of our meds (after all...we can't get sick!) and he said of course.
Off we went to the pharmacy and picked up our little yellow pills. According to the 'fact sheet' there are obvious side effects but since this is supposed to be for preventative measures...I don't care. As I have always said...I had a hysterectomy...and as long as the hair grows on my head and not on my face...I'm happy! This medication is pretty much the generic version of Tamiflu. I'm just wondering why this medication isn't being talked up. Maybe it is...I don't know, but I'm glad to take it. And we are talking only $18!
We have a new employee (yipee!) and she has done housekeeping before so we don't have to train. Massively busy weekend coming up. Artsy Fartsy Chinati Open house plus activities in Marfa. If I ever get out of this place...someday I want create something to exhibit at the Artsy Fartsy show. I will.....someday.
Husband home. Not great news, extra tests and a biopsy. Perhaps he will have results in a couple of days. He's fed up and my not go back (so he says) BUT he has a project that is keeping him busy which is a very good thing.
Beautiful sky tonight as there were horrendous storms south of us in Terlingua and Lahitas. We got a little thunder...
Well...I will drink another glass of water (lots 'o fluids) and sleep. It's been real! Have a wonderful day.

(Old post...that wouldn't post...so now I am posting it) holy crap...what a day
First of all...it was a nice party last night. Not a ton of people...but the entertainment was great. Husband made a large pot of chili...I made cornbread. And grapes. Well....I didn't actually make the grapes...God did...but I put them on the platter! Fruit is good!
Tom is getting his claws clipped. Not a happy cat.
Worst news today? Our new employee??? Decided she didn't want to move to Alpine so she is staying in Ft. Davis. DAMN DAMN DAMN! She worked on Wednesday and we only had one person checking out. She was off today and we had six outs. Naturally. Who knows what tomorrow will bring and this weekend is another full house. CRAP! Oh well...onward and upward.
I'm tired tonight...but more down just thinking about no time off.

Me AND my computer didn't feel well!
Me...headache (gotta be the weather). Computer (slow witted). Just don't know.
It was an interesting day. The weather was funky. Drizzly, rainy, drizzly, foggy, sunny, cloudy, just plain strange. Not uncomfortable, though. Rain is predicted for tomorrow. We'll see. Since we are masssively busy...it will probably pour!
Husband leaves to go to the hospital in Albuquerque tomorrow. He has a full 'test' day on Monday...MRI's, X-rays, blood, etc...and surgery scheduled for Tuesday. He is definitely not looking forward to this...and hopefully everyone involved will be there! (I know Husband will!!)
I have a long list of to-do's. I generally power clean when he leaves, as he is not supposed to breathe massive chemicals (I guess none of us should..) but I spray enough bleach to kill the cat!
I live in such a small space, you wouldn't think I would have to clean anything (like I should be able to keep up with it??!!)...but believe me...I tear the place apart. I want to get all of the cleaning out my system immediately so I can get some crafty stuff done. I am FAR behind.
Oh yeah...last night Husband asked...'what do you need to make brownies?' I thought to myself...well...a GOOD wife would say cocoa, sugar, flour, walnuts, real vanilla...'I' said...a box of fudge brownie mix. So...he bought a box of brownie mix...and 2 eggs, water and oil later...tada!!
Brownies!! (close eyes and visualize pat on the back). One of these days I'll whip up that pound cake I have been promising to make.
OK the aspirin has kicked in and I am full of Yogi tea so I will bid a good night to all...

semi productive day
Good day! Work done early. Went home to work on bears.
Several things to do tomorrow for 'Joe Green' entertainment evening, but can't do them till tomorrow anyway. Husband making chili (yummy). I just walked around the courtyard to see where to hang some lights. We'll have a fire in the firepit so that will be pretty. It's dark at 8 pm!
Oh! Sara e-mailed to tell me that word on the street is that Randy Quaid and his lovely wacko wife Evi were spotted eating breakfast at Magoo's! I'm hurt! He never called! He better never call me for bail money!
later dudes...

He's still only hand stitched but will have a full bodyectomy in a couple of days. I'm going to finish a few more faces tonight and hit the hay. Husband is watching 'Jacked' and The High Chapparal' DVD's simutaneoulsy . What a multi-tasker!

More of a relaxing day
An easy and early day at work. I used the spare time to wash clothes and that was about it.
Found a few strands of beads as potential Teddy Bear eyes. Was totally un-crafty today! I needed to send several emails for the Cowboy entertainment to-do on Wednesday evening. Husband will make a pot of chili and I'll make a pan of cornbread. We hadn't planned on any 'food' but when we received a follow-up confirmation email from Joe Green today...he mentioned that he would be playing at the BBQ(?)...well chili is as close as it's going to get to BBQ!
It's hard telling just how many people will be here and it will be around 7:00 pm, so I seriously think chili will fit the bill for first come/first served. There will also be chips/popcorn/pretzel snacks. MMMMMMMMMM tasty!
We are watching an amazing program about the National Parks on PBS. What beautiful scenery. Seeing Yellowstone Park makes me miss Wyoming...but it was in the 20's last night...so I have already gotten over it. But it is truly breathtaking.
Hope to doing something constructive to report tomorrow. We'll see.....

a beautiful Sunday
After a tasty breakfast at Bread and Breakfast...it was work, work work! Had a new employee today and she did better than we expected. The true test will be if she shows up again! She has tomorrow off but I expect she'll be here on Tuesday. It was a good day for her to see how busy and demanding this job can be...but it's really not a killer. Just cuz I'm sick of it is no reason to discredit an honest days work.
I have been racking my brain to find the right beads/buttons for the Teddy Bear eyes... I forgot! I make JEWELRY for living! I have tons of black onyz beads!! DUH!! Tomorrow...they shall SEE!!!
We are having a little 'to-do' on Wednesday evening here at the Lodge. Joe Green (Cowboy poet/singer/entertainer) will be traveling through here and will stay with us Tuesday and Wednesday and will sorta 'sing for his supper/stay' . Hopefully we'll have a decent crowd. I printed out flyers and contacted everyone I could think of here in town. He's a regular during the Cowboy Poetry Weekend here and since it's during the week...it will be fun. I'll attempt to take some photos.
It was another beautiful day in paradise today. Tonight the sky is clear and you can see the Milky Way. I'd like to eat a Milky Way right now!
I need to finish making out the True Value list. We have a few housekeeping/maintenance supplies that are urgently needed so we'll start the day out shopping! Monday's are slow(er) so we try to play catch up and then go home early. It's great after a full weekend.
I'll be back tomorrow...(God willing) and maybe I'll have finished a bear! We'll see.....

Quick update
Party day (such that it is). I made pasta salad instead of macaroni and cheese. Didn't feel 100% but much, much better. We were busier than I thought and I had less time than I planned on...so I'll make mac & cheese next time. Crab didn't make it but there are some amazing tuna steaks and shrimp. Husband is marinating the tuna in a Jamacian Jerk marinade. It smells delici-oso! Several people have arrived and it may be beer-thirty! I haven't had a beer in 3 WEEKS!!!! Not good for the fybromybodyhurts...so I have abstained...I usually drink O'Douls but I seriously think that causes me to feel worse.
It's sad. I really like the taste of beer. If they made beer flavored fizzies..I would drink them! Unfortunately...or fortunately...I have the real stuff so I'm going for the gusto...
Well well!! It is now 4 hours later and I am patting my budda belly, having enjoyed a wonderful meal!! The tuna steaks were great! Shrimp....mmmmmmmm good! Pasta salad - tasty. Beer - COLD!!! Enjoyed the evening and especially the company. Sara was here. We always laugh at the most irreverant things! That's what makes them funny!!! After all...just the slightest bit of sarcasm (I know...it's SO hard to believe that about me!) sets us into a new dimension of humor. Plus we think we saw a space ship (I know you are reading this Sara) Honest! It went straight into the sky. Perhaps it was the mother ship?? AHHHH...we can only speculate...
Oh wait!!! (I know you are reading THIS SARA!!!! Paul brought some SUSHI!!! Did 'I' get any...NOOO!! Wait...I was fixing a shower(s) for some guests! Good person that I am. That's OK...I'll make my own damn sushi...It was funny and ironic!
Well...no bear making tonight...It's 'nap' time. Had a fun day...Nite!

headache revisited
Holy Tylenol! I got home last night...cleaned the bathroom...ate some fish and BOOOOMMM! Headache from hell!! I had no earlier symptoms like a migraine was in the works...so I'm not sure what happened. MUCH better today...except for the fact that I woke up this morning and seriously thought it was Thursday. I was just drawing a blank. It wasn't a bad 'work' day but I was glad to get home a while ago.
Bear production last night was nil as was everything else. May I'll do a few things later.
It was a little warmer today. The sun is glorious and the breeze warm. Love it! Bobbie and I stopped at the Town & Country convienence store for a fountain drink. I was sure I wanted the mamma jamma size...which I got...7 up...HUGE!...It's like drinking out of a 5 gallon bucket! I'm thinking, since this cup is plastic as opposed to the styrofoam one, I will force myself to drink more water. I know it sounds ridiculous, but I will actually consume more water if I have it in a cup (bucket) with a lid and a straw or in a bottle beside me than just relying on a glass of water. It's stupid...I agree...humor me. Don't even say it...why don't you put the straw in the GLASS!!! Cuz I don't want to...THAT'S WHY!
Odd and crazy news. Randy Quaid and his wife were arrested in Marfa, Texas yesterday for skipping out on a hotel bill in California. Of course the news media is having a heyday with this, and I still don't know the details (Randy hasn't called me yet! Imagine!!) Crap makes the world go 'round!
Let's see...Crimson Tide is coming on. Love Gene Hackman...love Denzel Washington...not sure if I love them for 2 hours together tonight. Yeah...I think I do.
I keep checking my spelling...there seems to be a different format here and I can't see spellcheck!! I NEED spellcheck! So if you see words that are mispelled...or just plan wrong...I am doing it deliberately!! K?
I mentioned the party for tomorrow?? Supposedly the crab that is coming 'may or may not' be coming...go figure...well, I was planning on making some sushi. I love sushi. I like (the veggie contents of) California Rolls...but I put crab in them. Crabifornia Rolls. I don't want to make them for the party...just me! Let's hope the crabs make it.
I got my free sample of Honey Nut Cheerios in the mail today. The mailman said I was the ONLY one in town to get one! Evidently he is not aware of my reputation of being the email queen! Free sample is my middle name...I am waiting for the Kashi stuff.
Did you know that Febreeze is the official deodorizer of the NFL?? Me neither. The things you learn on TV...
I will go now and give life to some bears. Have a great day/night! (Stage 2 - Bear body parts)

Trying to add some stuff...
Well...I figured out how to take a couple of photos and add them. Yes...it IS rocket science for me.
I have been cutting out teddy bears. Did you like the lovely photo of the pre-teddy bear felt? I think it looks like the skin that the creepy guy in Silence of the Lambs was making his lovely outfit out of!! Oh well! The bears are going to be cute. And this felt is nice. I'll take photos of the different stages of completion. 'How to make a bear in 106 easy steps...'
I just ate a piece of watermelon...or should I say I ate a crunchy type fruit type product shaped like a watermelon with absolutely NO taste. I mean NONE! But I ate it anyway. Don't even ask.
It was a nice cool day today. Low 70's maybe...sun off and on...some drizzle now and then...really nice. It will get warmer at the end of the week. Busier than we expected today and I couldn't wait to get home. Days are long and tedious when you have other (better) things that you really want to do.
I have another 'follower'. This is very exciting. Ginger is super super great and has had the most extra-ordinary life . Check out her blog. There are people that you meet that make a difference in your life? She is one in mine. (And her significant other!)
I mixed up some cookies tonight to bake tomorrow. Double Chip Macadamia Nut Cookies. White and milk chocolate chips. Finely chopped macadamia nuts. Real Mexican vanilla. Real sweet cream butter. The dough is delicious. I'm thinking the cookies will be BETTER! I'm not supposed to eat them. Guess what??
I need to find some tights on line. We are going to Vegas for our anniversary in November and I want comfort. I'm thinking long tunic style shirt with tights. Jeans and long shirt. Any shirt that covers the fat. And the butt. Perhaps cone shaped. With tights. I don't know WHY I want tights. I just do.
Well...I think I'll sew another muzzle on the face of a bear. Maybe a few. I'm in a sewing mood for another hour or so (sew). Have a good one and see ya on the morrow! Nite...

a beautiful day in the neighborhood
MUCH BETTER DAY!! Yipee! Headache a thing of the past. Must have been the arctic chill...well...it was 46 for the low, after all! And I loved it. Naturally it warmed up into the 70's and will be warmer straight through till December...but it was a great change. I think the headache was barometric pressure. Seriously.
OK. I unpacked the Teddy Bear felt box. It's some nice stuff (Aetna Felt Co.). I cut out the patterns(s) for the bears and read...yes I said READ...the instructions. That is not the norm for me. I usually make something...something looks a little off...THEN I read the instructions and say OH shit! That's how it usually goes. But not this time! I will cut the bears out after I take a shower after I finish this and after I drink the infamous tonic water. Only slight leg pain last night. Strange.
Watched a good but interesting movie tonight. 'Next'. Starring Nicholas Cage, Jessica Biel and Julienne Moore. A thinker movie. I liked it. DEA is on now...
I got a bead board in the mail today...I have one already, but this one has a cover!! I am notorioius for lining up a strand of beads and then knocking it over...so I at least can put a cover on it when I stand up! Getting this today reminded me that this was 'jewelry week'...but that plan changed.
Oh-oh...Woody is trying to block the suspect's exit..but alas! Suspect rams Woody's car and the chase it ONNNNN! He looses him...then..OMG! Spots the red mini van! TIME IS RUNNING OUT!!! Whew! Thank God the commercial came on...
Did you know that Kraft Macaroni and Cheese is not the cheesiest anymore? Not to me it isn't. Where is that nice heartwarming artificial orange color that I grew up with? Not in that box!!
We are hosting a birthday party for a friends this weekend and (actually 2 birthdays) a request for my macaroni and cheese was made. I make good macaroni and cheese. I spare no fat. I add fat and carbs. I practically fill each individual shell (we like shells) with velveeta. Then coat each one with cheese and serve bowls 'dipping cheese' on the side. MMMMMMMMMMMMM! Can you say...heart attack!! Another friend is in route to San Antonio and then on to the coast to bring back shrimp, oysters, blue crab and can hopefully find some tuna (at a store...no tuna in the Gulf of Mexico!)
Husband will do his magic and is planning to marinate the tuna steaks in a Jamacian Jerk type marinade and then grill. Another MMMMMMMMMMMMMMM! He loves to cook and always will try the unusual and our friends LOVE it!
My signature cake is triple chocolate with chocolate ganache. I can't eat it anymore...but love to make it. It smells nutritious AND delicious while baking!!
Well...I think I'll close and jump in the shower. It's been real. Have a nice night!!

busy busy busy...
I am tired. I have a headache. My eyes itch. I used too many chemicals today. The groundskeeper (and I use that term very loosely) was mowing the grass. The cold front is moving in....yada yada...I'm whining. No, really, I have enough of a headache that even though I am writing this...I have not even opened the box that came today that contains the TEDDY BEAR FELT!!! And you know how I have been bitching about THAT!
Consequently, this will be a short one. Tomorrow will be an early day so I hope I feel better. I remember saying that this would be jewelry making week....but it may be a total Teddy bear week.
You know...I really want to open that box...but then I'll feel obligated to do someting so I'll be strong! VERY STRONG!!
Oh...it may be psychological...but after I drank the Tonic water last night..no leg cramps till around 5:00 am...AMAZING! I had another glass tonight but ended up taking 2 Bayer aspirin anyway just cuz I don't feel so good. As long as I am convinced..that's all that matters.
OK...that's a wrap. Head hurting. On the morrow!!

Interesting note...
I was just checking my email and there are always interesting headlines on Yahoo...I particularly like this one...
'Insane killer caught after 3 days on loose in Washington'
I wonder where the sane killers are??
hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...........

Waitin' for the cool down...
Another beautiful day in paradise...and it wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. But the cold spell is a comin' and I am GLAD! Don't get me wrong...I like summer and heat and all, but I like cooler, too. I was born and raised in Maine and lived in Wyoming. I have had enough of any temperature that is below zero!
Yeah...yeah...I know it's only a temporary cold snap...( I'm talking 45!!! degrees here!) but it's not 90 after all. And I know that is the LOW...but humor me! IT'S A COLD SNAP!!!
It's movie time again. A sad state when you have 100 channels and NOTHING is on! So we are watching Another Stakeout. I was going to work on a few stocking ornaments...but the moment has passed. Montana Sara (her name is Sara and she is from Montana..catchy, eh?) came over and we decided to recreate the ebay moment of finding vintage reproduction material (for the aprons). Let me back up. I was 8% sure that I had actually ordered material. Well....now I can't find when or where that I did...sooooo...we looked on a few fabric sites...and found some. I'll settle on a few pieces. It's weird...you buy it by the fat quarter, but can get it 'by the contiguous piece' (as quoted by the seller). Isn't that 'by the yard'?? Go figure...
I just drank a glass of Tonic water. I am sure it would be much better with gin in it...but here's the reason I opted for T water-neat. I have fybromyalgia. I think I mentioned that before...and also the fact that I thought it was fake??? Well...guess what..it's not. Sorry to all those fellow sufferers. Anyway, I think I am calcifying my liver with Motrin/aspirin/Aleve or have a kidney stone the size of a can of refried beans...cuz I hurt. Oh yeah...the tonic water...well...my legs are killing me, too! Not necessarily restless legs. Just screaming ass aches in the legs.
I was watching Getting Fresh with Sara Snow and she was talking natural remedies. She said that quinine is great for leg aches ( I knew that...didn't DO that...but I knew that) and perhaps a glass of tonic water which contains...you guessed it! quinine...would help. So I am trying it. I'll let you know...
Well...it's time to get wet all over and then prepare to press the BUY button on ebay! What an exciting night! Have a great one! Nite...

Nite...

An update...
Well..what else can you call it...an update...I missed a few days...get used to it...if only I had the balls to say what I really mean!! You get the drift. Anyhoo...
Right now...we are watching Giant. I also have a few magazines to read and a blog to write.
Earlier...cut out some stocking and mitten ornaments and components...and sewed a few. Won't have the teddy bear felt till next week (I may have mentioned that before) but am making progress in the decorations department.
Earliest...worked. Not a bad day. Lots 'o laundry...many stay over guests. Tomorrow will be long and tiring. Not sure of the weather forecast but it was quite comfortable today. A slight rain storm in the afternoon.
Ate some leftovers for supper and have been drinking green tea for a few hours. Might not be such a smart idea...but too late now!
Still haven't received a confirmation on vintage fabric for the aprons..must check on that in a few minutes (maybe).
Finally...a few words of wisdom. If you live in an area with dust, dirt, grass, stickers, rain, mud, have a cat, use dusting powder and have hair...never buy a maroon colored bath mat. Take my word for it.
OK...I'm done for tonight. Must go horizontal. I'll attempt to read which will put me to sleep and then the tea will kick in...Have a good one!!

Holy Smokes! It's been a few days, eh?
Been a little busy here. Working yes...but 'craftin', too! And watching movies and not writing nothing!
Tonight it is the Life and Times of Judge Roy Bean...(LOVE Paul Newman!) and possibly but not probably making a few patterns for ornaments. I have decided on a nice selection to make.
Still waiting for the felt for the teddy bears. Hopefully it will be here tomorrow. I always save e mails with the shipping info...and was sure I had this one, but for the life of me I can't find it! Oh well, when it's here...it's here. I am anxious to make at least one asI know they will be cute. Oh yeah...still planning on taking some photos to post (!!!).
I was another easy day. And I hope so again tomorrow. This weekend is booked so Sunday will be long. It's even worse as the days are getting shorter. It's only 9:07 and it's as dark as if it were midnight. I can't believe it's already the 16th of September!!
I found some great copper jewelry findings on Amazon tonight (like I need them, too!) but I am at least waiting a full day before I order...in case I change my mind. Next week I am devoting to jewelry. I have made 30 hats and am working on another right now. Hey! I almost forgot about the aprons. Have material coming for them that I had forgotten about! Better check on it...
The bear just got killed in Judge Roy Bean...My favorite part in the movie is Bob..Bad Bob...the albino.
I know this is short..but I'm closing to relax...nite!

Of course it's a full day later!
Way too tired to write last night. Way to tired to do anything but SLEEP last night! At first it was a little power nap...which turned into a deep sleep with me waking at 8:48 pm...thinking it was the next morning (ever done that?) getting up...taking a shower...laying back down thinking 'oh great...I'll be awake all night' and then waking up at 8:30 this morning! I'm guessing I REALLY needed that sleep. So now I feel better. Another easy(er) day today and should be again tomorrow...so I am taking advantage of the 'time off' to make stuff.
I am almost done another hat and found some chemo cap patterns. I have tons 'o yarn which would be perfect, so I'll make one of those next. I hope to get the knitting needles in the next couple of days...want to try the baby booties.
Husband grilled fish outside for supper. Perfect with a salad. Might want some chocolate later...but will opt for fruit. I may crack and have fruit with a side of chocolate....
I had ordered some honey with the comb in it as I had never tasted honey comb. Husband said it was delicious and he was right! We are going to attempt a new biscuit recipe tomorrow night...a layered biscuit. Sounds slightly complicated, but should be a breeze. Just a little more time consuming. A perfect compliment to the honey.
Torrential rain was predicted today...but nothing yet. The evening is still young, though. It was very foggy this morning, but burned off by noon. The temps are comfortable...upper 70's. Oh well...it's September. September 11th tomorrow. Makes the hair stand up on my neck remembering.
Getting ready to watch a movie...and old(er) one. Murphy's Romance with Sally Field and James Garner. It's a cute one. I've got time to take a shower so I can relax, too. I just won't close my eyes or I'll sleep till tomorrow!!
Have a good one!

Holy cow! It's been forever!!
Let's see...where do I start!! It's certainly been a while...OK...here it is in a nutshell...
Husband to hospital...Husband home from hospital...Hospital stupid...Husband to go back to hospital.
Me working...Me tired...Me being crafty (not sly like a fox...just crafty)...Me too lazy to type.
That's it. I did some serious organizing of craft stuff while Husband in Albuquerque at hospital. Damn I have a lot of shit! And I did some serious research for patterns and planning while on bloggless hiatus. Got in the really cute teddy bear pattern(s). I ordered plush felt (sounds interesting!) today and when it arrives, I will cut out all the bears I can so they will be ready to sew. I am guessing probably 15 bears total. I ordered 5 yards and it supposedly takes 1/3 yard per bear.
Since I AM the on line shopping queen...I found a great deal on knitting needles ($1.30 for 5 pair of various sizes) so they are on the way. I definitely need smaller needles than I presently have to make the baby booties...if not...I'll be knitting for the Sasquatch baby!
I'm now thinking about a few yards of vintage apron material. I got a book a while back with some cute styles...they might be good seller...but only a few. I have such grand expectations.
Enough craft stuff. The weather is beautiful. We had 1 1/2 inches of rain a couple of days ago! It was a virtual downpour and we desperately needed it. More rain is predicted over the next few days. We'll see....
It was a slow day today. At least we MADE it that way! We moved as quickly as we could and were out of here by 11:30! It was great. I think tomorrow will be pretty much the same. Thank God...since Monday was an 11 hour day. It's takes me so much longer to recover from these long grueling days. Actually, it has been that way for the past several days which is another reason I have shirked my blog. Sometimes it is just too tiring to write!
I watched a movie on HBO tonight...the Secret Life of Bees (I think...) It was very good. Kind of a chick flick...I think I need to see it again. Dakota Fanning, Queen Latifa, Alicia Keys and Jennifer Hudson were the main actors. Right now...the Snows of Kilimanjaro is on. I love Gregory Peck.
I will sketch out a couple of patterns tonight and finish another baby hat (I'm only a few rows from the end)
Hopefully will be back tomorrow!! Ta Ta!!

Relaxing day...at last
I know...yesterday wasn't bad..but today was much better. We were done before 1:00 and it was great. Husband and I went to (finally) get me a (Texas) driver's license..and guess what? The office was closed! Until Friday!! Oh well...so we went to the grocery store and then to Harry's for a couple of beers.
Russ has a beer system set up at Harry's. They sell Lone Star...Russ drinks Lone Star. The cooler that they keep the Lone Star in is not very cold...so they keep Russ' Lone Star in a separate cooler. Hence...they are ICE cold!! Muy bueno!! I very seldom go to Harrys'...but today I got one of the coldest Lone Star's in Alpine. mmmmmmmm!!! Well worth the wait. So...we visited for a bit then came home and ate weird stuff. Weird in the sense that it was one of those days when you eat all the leftover stuff in the fridge.
Now I am knitting another cap. This is more of the Lion Brand Yarn - Chenille Thick & Quick in the #1333 Eucalyptus. Beautiful color!! I also found a pattern on line through the Lion Brand site for an afghan using this yarn. It would be really soft and heavy. In the Eucalyptus, Wine and Ivory colors It would be awesome. I may consider these afghans as a next project.
I also ordered a a teddy bear pattern on line. A cute faced bear. I think making it a sweater made out of this chenille would be a super accent. Great Christmas gift...hope to make a few for the craft show. I hope I can find some appropriate fabric for the bears. Perhaps a plush terry material.
We have quite a long day tomorrow...so I may not be as productive tomorrow night.
We planted some cilantro and parsley last week and it has finally poked through the ground. We had a planter full in front of the house for the past 2 years...but it got pretty spindly so I ripped it all out and started a new batch of each. Nothing better than fresh herbs.
Well...another day almost over...so I'll finish up this cap and get some shut eye. later!

Busy Busy Weekend!!
I'm glad it's Monday! Never thought I'd say that!! Actually...it was a very busy weekend (party time) and everything was great. Cabrito was cooked perfectly...beer was ice cold!...cakes were simply delicious! A good time was had by all. We had the 'regulars' and a few more who are now in the group.
Right now we are watching the Rounders..one of the BEST cowboy movies EVER! Bar none!! Howdy Howdy! I am also knitting. I got the yarn shipment in today and have already made a really pretty hat. One of the yarns I got is Thick and Quick Chenille (Lion Brand Yarn) and it is wonderful! Thick...soft...really rich. The hat is made in the #189 Wine color. I know...I should have photos...I'm working on it!
I found another hat pattern that is crocheted...I'll start that in a minute. It seriously only took 3 hours to make the knitted hat (even with interruptions) so I'll have some fun and be very productive!.
Should be an easy day tomorrow. I hope so. I have quite a few things to catch up on.
Russ goes to the hospital a week from today...so he'll be gathering up his stuff. Shirts to the cleaners...starting to pack...all of the hotel reservations are made as well as the plane so that's off the checklist.
He'll just get hay and feed in so there's no problem there.
Well...I must crochet a bit...tomorrow! (maybe...)

I have been BUSY!!!!
Holy Hell...it's been a while! I have been seriously busy! Lots to do and lots accomplished. Knitting...crocheting...updating stuff...photos (finally!) and plans...yes...many many plans!
Had some great news today that made an unbelievable difference in my life. I am a new person...so I'll now act like one.
OK...weather is ominous. Looks like showers which would be welcome. I am simultaneously making out a grocery list for 'husband's' birthday BBQ! Actually he and his co-horts are traveling to Marfa tomorrow AM to pick up dinner. He is cooking cabrito so they are making a day of it by celebrating with Mexican food lunch first. Then the killin' begins. (graphic...eh!) But the outcome is quite tasty.
We will have quite the party...it's husbands b-day, Raven's b-day and Teri's b-day...so the chocolate cake will be flowing like a river...I'll make German Chocolate, Triple Chocolate Decadence and Red Velvet. mmmmmm!!!!!! We will have some massive SUGAR FUN!!!
I have been knitting baby hats like crazy! Up to 25...and have more yarn coming next week. I think I'll bring a dozen to the hospital here. OH...off the subject...I checked on line last night and will be joining the Chamber of Commerce. It's only $35 for an individual membership and I think It's definitely worth it. It would be more for promoting my jewelry...but it's a great outlet.
I need to find a few more items to make as crocheting and knitting seem to be more relaxing at night. I can certainly see better than trying to make jewelry. I'm NOT in an afghan mood, but maybe a baby blanket size...and if I find something simple enough...a sweater. The booties I found are cute and will make some tonight.
It was uneventful at work today...thanks goodness. I am catching up on emails and paperwork early in case I decide to sleep later. I didn't sleep well at all last night, so after a shower this evening...I'll be history!
I did take quite a few photos of some of the remodeled rooms here the other night. I have been 'editing' them for color and quality and hope to create a book for the office and also put them online...perhaps in a blog! Imagine that!!
I am also trying to make business cards for me and Russ. I had the templates on my other computer which is now a thing of the past and have no clue how to retrieve them from old documents files, but need a better format anyway.
I will close now...I have a few pressing matters (like laundry) that I think I'll do right now before I go horizontal to the sleep mode...or I may write more later (don't count on it!!)
tada!!

What a pretty day in West Texas!
Last nights rain was so comforting...it was gentle..yet the lightning dramatic. It broke into a beautiful day. Very warm and slightly breezy. It was quite the opposite in the work department. Those girls showed up...but were slow slow slow. Bobbie and I ran errands for an hour and a half this AM with high expectations of the day being off to a smooth start. NOT! It's been 2 months and you'd think by this time the hum drum chores of housekeeping wouldn't have escalated to the degree of rocket science. But it has! I guess since Bobbie and I think each others thoughts and use logic in cleaning...it is a repetitious act...but it's still the same thing in each room! I don't know...I guess common sense is not a chromosome. We got through earlier than we expected but not soon enough. I wish there were competent applicants for housekeeping...but none have shown up yet. I am so burned out on this. We managed to tile the shower floor in #24 two days ago and had hoped to grout it today but it didn't happen. Hopefully tomorrow. There is so much remodeling left to do...and I miss it! I HATE housekeeping and wouldn't be doing it at ALL if we had help. I have no life.
I finished two white baby caps last night. I placed an order with Smiley Yarns for many skeins of 'baby yarn' and some chunky bulky types of yarns for adult hats. They are so fast to make..so I expect to have a generous supply for the December craft bazaar. I have put the jewelry making on hold for a bit while I am on a roll with this knitting and crocheting.
Oh...I went out to take photos this evening...I took 3! The battery went dead!!! It's on the charger now so tomorrow will be photo day. I really need to if I want some flower photos. I also need to take photos of these hats and a few things that I think I'll put on ebay. Plans!!! Don't ya love 'em!!
I am off to sleep now. I could not sleep last night and it was a very long night. Which made for a very long day. I just took a nice hot shower and am getting sleepy....very sleepy....
I need to get on line and look up a birthday present for husband. I know what I want to get him, I'm just not sure which ones to get. Ok...enough...night!

A rainy evening...
I missed another day. Actually, the last time I tried to post, there was an error. Don't know what or why...just wouldn't let me post. So I got frustrated and was too tired last night...so I spent a few minutes tonight and figured out what to do. Consequently, I posted the last 'post' and am working on this one. WHEW! NOW I'm exhausted!
We had quite a storm this evening. Great rain and amazing lightning. Perhaps that's what is causing this massive headache I have had for the past few hours.
Got off early today and went to Harry's to meet up with 'husband' and friends Paul and Mary Ann who are in town for a day or two. Going there is out of character for me, so this was relaxing. Had a few beers and came home and sort of took a nap...ate some supper and am now nursing this headache. More in the neck...but not symptomatic of a migraine coming on. Let's hope not.
I cut up two huge wonderful cantaloupe that Russ brought home yesterday. They are so sweet they make your teeth ache! I must say that the fruit here in Texas is wonderful. We have a watermelon and I think I'll make sure I have the ingredients to make watermelon rind pickles when we cut it...I LOVE them and think I am on the last jar from last year...so I feel a 'pickling' coming on!
Russ made some Chinese pickles a couple of days ago. The are the kind that you don't have to process...just refrigerate. They taste SOOOOO good! I don't have a canning pot (well...I DO, but it is in storage and I just don't feel like fighting the mess to find it...so I think I'll check on line. There was a steamer/canner on Amazon that looked pretty interesting and inexpensive. That is something that I would definitely use.
I finished the baby hat (it's adorable...) and am making a second tonight. I also crocheted a cute hat (Autumn Harvest Crocheted Hat on the lionbrand.com site) with a cream colored bulky yarn. Super fast to make so I need to get some other yarn in pretty fall colors. I have filled out the form to mail in for the Mountain Country Christmas Bazaar and will BE there this year. For sure!
I also found another site for beads and leather tonight. I think it is hideandfur.com but I'm not sure. Pretty stuff...(like I need more beads!)
Won't read tonight...no need to feed the headache any more. Might not even knit...In the Army Now is on now (dumb movie, but I like Pauley Shore) and I am sure it will put me to sleep... As you noticed...no photos yet...I'm getting there!!! Have a good one!

We have a watermelon and I think I'll make sure I have the ingredients to make watermelon rind pickles when we cut it...I LOVE them and think I am on the last jar from last year...so I feel a 'pickling' coming on!

a cloudy photo op day
Well...it became a little cloudy by the time I got to take a few photos. They are OK...I'll try again tomorrow and then I'll start to post a few on here. At least I say I will. Got a couple more books today. I really need to start reading. I'll add that to my list,to things to do.
I am reading Dixie Cash's 'Since You're Leaving Anyway...Take out the Trash'. It is definitely a fun read! And I can read a chapter or two and not loose my place in the book.
Russell finally got info from the VA in Albuquerque regarding surgery date(s). First round is Sept. 2 to remove tumors in both arms, and then October 5 for neck and underarm tumor removal. He will check with Dr. 'Lorianne' tomorrow about another shot for his back. He is having considerable pain in his back and legs and is long overdue for this treatment. Last shot was in January!
I am not feeling well today. I have had quite a bit of pain over the past few days. Motrin just isn't cutting it. Of course, I have cheated in my diet of what I am NOT supposed to eat, so I shouldn't be surprised...but it still hurts. And I thought Fybromyalgia was an imaginary disease!
I found some great free knitting and crochet patterns on the lionbrand.com (yarn) website. I may cast on stitches for the Queen of Hearts Preemie/Newborn Hat tonight. It's very cute. It's shown in white with a red band with tiny hearts. I am making it in 'Vanna's Baby yarn' in a berry blue.
Time to check out for the evening. I have a long day tomorrow and want to read 2 chapters and begin my newest knitting project. Sleep well!

day and a half later.....
Well...photo taking was out for a day (yesterday) and again today...RAIN!! Which is a good thing but messed up my concrete plans (yeah...right!) Maybe the light will be better this evening...
I got the 'Vanna's Choice Baby Yarn today...I will no doubt start a preemie cap tonight. I am almost through with the second Schooner Hat, but this one looks kinda big...I am using a funky yarn which is no doubt the problem, but I still like the effect. I also got a catalog today with some cute Christmas ornaments. Perhaps I shall plagiarize some patterns!! Pretend I never said that!. I also got a couple of books in the mail today...a Sarah Bird (my hero), a Dixie Cash and a Carol Dawson. ooooooo.......so much to read, knit and crochet and...so little time!
It was such an easy day today! Bobbie and I finished early (@ 2) and I came home to rest a while. I actually cleaned up around the room last night and it still smelled clean when I got home. So I had a little snack, watched it rain (which it still is) and got some stuff lined up to work with. Let's see....the yarn is calling me. Might read later after a shower.
Might write again later, too. We'll see.......later.....

pooped.......
Busy busy busy! Made a simply wonderful brunch for Beth and her family. They were a delight to meet...and they obviously love her very much. I made a ham, cheese and spinach strata; sausage and hash brown breakfast casserole; apple and blueberry muffins; juice and coffee and a fresh fruit platter. I was impressed! Took photos of the family and will make blowups tomorrow.
Then I went to work. It was busy, as usual, and the 'girls' actually took their own initiative to clean after stripping the rooms! Odd! But greatly appreciated. We were done before six which was a complete shocker! Came home to rest and eat more ham and cheese strata for supper...with grapes. Yum!
Not wanting to do anything crafty tonight. The Cary Grant movie 'Houseboat' is on tonight so I think I will relax and watch it. I took a hot shower and am soooo comfortable...
I think I ate too many grapes...
I have had a thought. I have a really nice camera now and I want to take some photos of flowers and cactus. I will write that on my agenda for tomorrow. There are some beautiful lantana in bloom right now, and the cactus have the big plump purple 'tuna' fruit which are as interesting as their flower. Yes...I will add photos to my daily craft to-do list.
OK...it's time for Cary Grant and Sofia Loren...night!!

Morning calm before the storm!
Work day started out much better. I say...started out...both girls showed up for work, but had to leave early! We ended up finishing their work, as well as ours. B&B make a great team, but sometimes it would be nice if we could do our planned job instead of finishing what someone else SHOULD have done. Maybe tomorrow will be better. I want to leave around 4:00 so husband and I can go to the chuck wagon cook off at the Ranch Rodeo. Sounds like fun!
I will come back to make a couple of breakfast casseroles to cook on Sunday morning (with other brunch stuff) for the Sul Ross college graduate that has lived next door to us for a couple of months. Beth Scarborough came back to Alpine to finish her degree...and she is in her 80's. She is an AMAZING artist and a wonderful woman. Her family is here to celebrate and we'll have a nice breakfast party for her...
I finished the Schooner hat and am starting another. Fast work and nice soft hats. I should have a skein of 'baby yarn' by Tuesday to try a preemie cap.
On a strange note. I got a Swiffer dry/wet mop today. It works really good! We only have a small area to clean, but this floor gets amazingly gritty. Sweeping and dust moping are a 10 times a day chore, and a regular mop is a pain in the ass. So I will splurge on the Swiffer. I will also make my own washable mop heads from microfiber cloth.
Time to knit ten more rows and go horizontal. It's been real. (Eye...MUCH better!)

I'm on a 3 day roll!
Where DOES the time go! I know I promised myself I would write on here every night! I KNOW it! I remember saying that...oh well. Best laid plans, etc, etc.
It's been complicated. I have been pretty upset over various things for a couple of days and I think I am on the downward spiral now. Let's hope. The 'best' thing...husband made Paella out side on the grill. It was mouth wateringly AMAZING!! He made a huge pan and we had friends over. NOTHING LEFT!!! The 'worst' thing...I worked alone yesterday. That's not quite true. Maria helped me (God bless her) and I survived on anger induced adrenaline. I really don't like undependable people. It's so easy to make a phone call! Or...when I actually SEE you drive by...and then you don't show up for work...and don't stop or call...that's pisses me off! Oh well...the work got done and it's in the past.
I started a knitted cap today. It's called a Schooner Hat. Simple garter stitch with a pom pom...has a semi roll to the brim. I like it. And it should only take an evening to make one.Ordered baby soft yarn for some preemie caps.
Started reading a Dixie Cash book last night. Really funny!! Got another one in the mail today. I love books. I haven't been buying any plain old reading books lately (only craft and beading books) and you know, I AM the amazon.com and ABE Books queen, so I have been updating my personal library.
I think I'll read a few chapters, knit a few stitches and hit the hay. I really should get books on tape...or CD's. I would definitely be more productive craft wise. I used to work that way all the time. I get too distracted with TV. A point to ponder!
manana!

Holy crap-it's Monday!
Well...I thought I'd slept through the night and it would be happy Monday. NOT!!! Another day in paradise but with a few glitches. I realize that I am without a doubt the most cynical and self centered person that I know. I am fine with that...today...however, I just don't fit into human society this way...today!
Cut to the chase...the day is over and I am calm. 'nough said. Unfortunately, writing this is going to be the most creative thing I do tonight...and at this moment, I don't feel bad about it. I have managed to piss off everyone I know and I can only hope they think better of me tomorrow.
Nothing is on TV...I don't want to read...so when I am done venting to myself..I am going to sleep. I am blaming it on the barometric pressure. When in doubt...
on the morrow...ta ta
