Husband got out of the military on December 7 many years ago. So we went out to dinner tonight with friends. BFFMS went (she was the designated driver) and so did Paul Becker. He is here for a few days from El Paso seeing his mom who is a nursing home here in Alpine. We all had a nice meal. It was entertaining. Paul and Husband never shut up. I ate fried food. A lot of it. It was really good. I'll suffer in silence. It will be worth it.
I tiled the shower floor today and also replaced 3 tiles on the actual bathroom floor in Room #24. It looks so much better! It was a very slow day business wise here. Things are slow everywhere here in Alpine. When I checked earlier, a couple of people had checked in.
Elizabeth Edwards died today. I liked her. I admired and respected her as a woman. She was brave. I'm not sure I could handle my situation as gracefully as she did. To be so ill in such a public venue. Perhaps it was comforting to know how much people cared for you unconditionally. RIP.
I have been looking at tea on line. I enjoy tea. I usually buy from DeCoty Coffee when they come here twice a month...but I want something different. There are lots of brands to choose from and I'm just not sure what I want.
I still didn't reach the dietitian today. She was not in her office and I sure hope I can reach her tomorrow. I need to see, or at least speak to her, before Monday. My blood sugar is staying good. When I got home today I was really thirsty for something fizzy and not a Coke Zero, so I drank part of an orange Crush. Not even the whole thing. I waited a few minutes and checked my blood sugar. It was 247! It took about 30 minutes for it to drop....thank God it did! I won't do that again!! (Then I ate the fried food!)
I need to find our little Christmas tree. Time to have some friggin' holiday spirit!! Since there is absolutely NO place to put it...I should suspend it from the ceiling. I need to put that on the list for tomorrow. Along with everything else I haven't done.
I got a sale catalog from Bealls today. There is really nice stuff in it. The problem is...they probably don't have much here in this store. It's the general Bealls store stuff. I think they have on-line shopping now and I might call the Alpine store to see if they do have the things I want and if not, check on line. There are 2 things specifically that I'd like to get. I hope they are here. I hate to have to order a sale item and then have to pay the shipping. Might not be worth it.
It's already 11:30. I need some sleep. See you tomorrow...

Monday bean night...
Considering that I haven't eaten beans of any kind for a while....tonight will be 'bean night'. Husband cooked some with a ham hock, onions and special seasonings. I got beaned out in the beginning of this adventure with diabetes. Consequently, even the thought of swallowing them was nauseating. But I am ready for a bowl.
Yes I called the dietitian. No she wasn't there. I'll call again tomorrow.
Yes I washed clothes today. No I did not defrost the freezer.
Yes I wanted the last piece of (very) sweet potato pie. No I did not eat it.
Yes I have been checking out on-line bargains. No I haven't bought anything (yet).
Yes I took up the shower floor in Room #24. No I did not wear gloves and got that friggin' glue shit all over myself.
Yes today was/is letter writing day. No the day is not over yet.
I am going to watch TV in a few minutes. There is a program on called Mad Hungry for the Holidays (or something like that). The host is a woman chef named Lucinda Scala Quinn and she is making some traditional food for...the holidays!! I have watched her before and I like the ways she cooks. It's not always perfect, which is refreshing, and it's food that you would actually make and eat. Then Hawaii 5-0 comes on. We like that show, too.
And I am crocheting a hat tonight. I did take a few pictures today. No, I didn't put any on line because I want to do that all at one time. But I want to crochet hats till I am out of yarn.
Another beautiful day today. Sorry...I have to learn how to make Yorkshire Puddings...

Guess What!!
I didn't wear glasses today. Granted...I wasn't totally 'blur free'...but pretty close to it! I am wearing them tonight while looking at the computer which I would do anyway...but I was so excited when I could (almost) see!! It's a milestone for me.
I worked late tonight on some stuff so I just ate a sweet potato and am nice and full. I love sweet potatoes. I think they are on my endangered species list, but I eat them anyway. I am supposed to have carbs!
I have a few craft things to do. I should (but the question is...will I...) take photos of my hats and put them on eBay. It's a smart idea and there is plenty of shipping time before Christmas. I would need to do it tomorrow if I do it at all. But...you know how I am...
It was a beautiful day today. The wind was light and kind of chilly but the sun was shining all day. We had an easy day and got home fairly early. I was going to wash some clothes but only did the bathroom rugs and ran out of ambition. There is always tomorrow.
One of our friends stopped by this evening and apologized for not recognizing me at the craft show. I spoke to him and he looked at me and answered, politely, and kept on going. His wife came by a bit later and said, 'Oh my God! You cut your hair!'
When he came over this evening he said...'I knew the voice, but you just looked so different!'. I thought it was pretty funny.
I think Saving Private Ryan has been on 3 times today. I think Husband has watched all of them. And Pearl Harbor....sad part? We have both movies. What a pain in the ass.
I did clean the bathroom today. It was gross. Sometimes is good not to be able to see. I need to defrost the little refrigerator. I will no doubt throw everything out (like I usually do). That's half the battle.
Husband asked me what I wanted for Christmas. I told him I wanted a belt sander.
'Why?' he asked.
'So if and when you ever cut me any antlers, you can sand the uncut side before you cut the next slice and save me some work'' I replied.
'You have a sander on the saw itself,' he said.
'No shit!!' I exclaim in wonderment.
'No shit...' he answers.
'Well'...I ask thoughtfully...'then why haven't you cut me any antlers?'
'I have been very busy'...he LIES!!!
'Oh.'
I must formulate a dastardly plan. I can't let him get away with this any longer! I need those antlers! I mean...I want those antlers. More so...now. Damn....men!!
My pants are tight. I suppose I should take them off but that would mean that I have to actually stand up. I'll be fine for a few more minutes.
I need to write some letters. Tomorrow will be letter writing day.
I need to call the dietitian tomorrow. I hope I don't forget. I need to talk to her before my next DR appt. on the 20th. Hey!! Maybe she will tell me I can eat candy!!
I think I should go take a shower and sleep. It's already 10. I know it's not that late, but I am suddenly tired. I got a lot done today. It was a good day. See you tomorrow...

Craft Show - Off the Check List
It was a great show. I am very pleased and tired. Successful sales...great company (many thanks BFFMS!). MS was asked several times if she made the stuff that was there and she, very sweetly said, 'NO! You dumb Son of a Bitch!'...
I'm joshing you!! She said 'Nope...she did!' And pointed at me. Naturally, I would have taken ALL the credit if I was her, but I told them she was my manager. She was the official 'fluffer'. When something needed fluffing...she was right on top of it! (She has a degree in Fluffing - and it shows!!) She is a pro. She's a Fluffer. It was fun. Of course we had that chicken moment - that I have chosen to keep to myself - sorry, you had to be there.
So now I am home and in need of a shower. I ate a wonderful salad prepared by Husband and am actually over full. I think I won't have any hot tea tonight since I drank hot tea all day.
I think the majority of the vendors did well. Any show is if-y, but the weather was great and that mean a lot when people are looking. And buying.
Sherlock Holmes starring Robert Downey Jr. comes on in a hour. I'd like to watch it, but I don't think I can stay awake through the movie. Especially after I take a shower. Way too relaxing.
Just wanted to let you know how nice the show was and also to thank Sara for being my friend.

Animal Farm Update!!
OK....all I have to say is...the chickens made it to the ranch OK...but we are not sure where the donkey is. OK?? That's all the information you get for now...and I know it's killing you!
MS and I worked our collective asses off today at the craft show and it's a good thing everything was in braille cuz I couldn't see a f**king thing! And yes...they had sandwiches. And I ate them. And a banana. And hot tea. And some blueberry stuff (but MS didn't see me, so don't tell her...I'll teach her to leave me alone!!) It was pretty good.
Lots of interesting stuff there. I sold a variety of things and was happy to leave. There were quite a few people there when we left but so what. It was a long enough day as it was. And then....there's tomorrow!!
I kept smelling apple pie there all day and it was driving me crazy. It's a sign from God.
If I was energetic I would make some more, or at least sew up some more, hats tonight. We'll see.
I made a good connection. A lady named Janna, who is a photographer here in Alpine and specializes in baby pictures, wants several baby hats! She doesn't care what color, and would like some with the little animal ears on them. Sounds fun. I prefer an order for something rather than just hope for the best. I have a few patterns already, but will look up a few more.
I feel so much better today. Several people were telling me about their illnesses today and the rash of flu's that are making the rounds. It don't sound good!
I am pooped so I will watch the Quick and the Dead with Sam Elliot for a while and then sleep. Have a nice evening!

I'm as ready as I am gonna get
Craft Show Countdown - 1 day. I am ready. Everything is packed . Even Francine.
MS and I are a goin' to the craft show and we is gonna sell sell sell!! Or buy buy buy...whatever comes first. I am drooling as we speak for one of those free sandwiches!
I feel a lot better today. I am tired tonight, though. Partly the cold medication and partly because I am just tired.
I could go to sleep right now, but it's only 7 pm and I'd be awake at midnight and stay that way. Nothing is on TV tonight. Hopefully if it turns into movie night...it's not war or cowboy movie night. Oh crap...it's 'Secrets of the Secret Service' again. I think I'll take a shower...for an hour.
Hold on...we got a funny movie in the player! Gotta take a quick shower and watch it. And rest for tomorrow...Have a nice nite

It's 9:24 PM and I am officially blind
I am done. I am done making earrings. I cannot see. I cannot see to pee. I cannot see to pee you see. Therefore I cannot pee. Damn! What a talent...
I have strung my last bead. Here's the funny part. I probably won't sell one single pair of earrings!! Oh well... I only have to print off cards which I will do in a few minutes and then I will put the earrings on the cards....and they will be ready for the show.
I have the mother of all headaches now. But it is my fault. I really strained my eyes. I feel much better from cold symptoms, except for the sore throat, still, but I can honestly say I feel better. I am drinking hot tea with honey. No, I'm not supposed to have honey...but I'm not supposed to have a sore throat, either!
It was an easy day today. And will be again tomorrow. Thank goodness. I will be home early and rest. I need to set up at the craft show on Friday around noon. It's open until 8:30 Friday night...but ain't no way I'm staying there till then. It opens again at 8:30 Sat morning and that's good enough for me. BFFMS is going to take me down to the show on Saturday and we can get a preview of the stuff. It won't take me long to set up so we can scout the place out ( and eat free sandwiches!) You never know when people are going to show up. It looks like the weather will be nice all weekend.
I need to check my Craft Show Checklist. I am pretty sure I have everything packed. I'll only need exta water. I already have snack stuff.
I think I'll go print the cards and go to bed. I am physically tired tonight. But in a good way. See you tomorrow!
