Well...Mumsy got her Mother's Day present! Now I ask you...is there anything better than food!! I THINK NOT!!! Food as in 'Edible Arrangements' OOOOOO yeah! They look so yummy...and I am guessing...as per her comments...they ARE!! Her comment..'.I hate to eat it!' My comment...'you better...or it will rot!' (sensitive, eh?)
I cut up strawberries and pound cake with a bowl of sugar for my supper. Equally as good!
Here's the problem in Alpine. An Edible Arrangement store would be truly amazing...extremely popular! However...to get superior fresh tasting juicy and delectable fruit here on a daily (even weekly) basis...would be a challenge! I would LOVE to make arrangements like that! Those would be THE gifts to give!! Even a good bakery, which we no longer have, for delicate, light and crispy pastries would be great. When 6th Street bakery was open...it was SO good! Now you have the grocery store and Little Debbie's. Actually, Marie Callender pies are a close second!
Not much on TV tonight. Know what I want to watch at 10:30 (pm)....Saturday Night Live. Know why? Because Betty White will be the HOST!!! It should be hysterical! There has been so much hype about it...if it was anyone else but her, I wouldn't care....but this should be good.
Not doing anything tonight. When I am done with this...I am going to lay back and relax! I'm not even sure what's on tonight until 10:30. I may take a nap.
Oh! I got my head today!!! It's white and staring at me...Haven't even put a hat on 'her' yet...I think I'll name her Francine. She looks French.
OK...time to rest. See you later!

Hot child in the city!!!!!
It was hot today! According to John Wells on his 'The Field Lab' blog it was 107 in Terlingua yesterday. Hot! That's hot I tell ya!!
Bobbie and I ran some errands for the Lodge today, deciding this was the best day to get them done...as today is LeAnn's last day! Damn!!! I am going to miss her. She isn't actually leaving Alpine until the 19th so I will definitely see her before then...but after that it's email and when she happens to come back to see her Grandfather. I am happy (and jealous) for her. She is off to a brand new life and her happiness is glowing. So it's back to Bobbie, Raven and me. Our remodeling days are over for a while. The business is great right now, so we will be incredibly busy for quite a while. Oh well.
I am full of chicken. And rice. Good meal. Now I am drinking raspberry tea and rounding out the night. I have some paperwork to do and then hope to make a few pieces of jewelry. Oh yeah. My 'head' has been shipped. The head that perhaps I shall paint.....BLACK????
I was gone for a little bit. Finished the paperwork I had to do to insure that I wouldn't forget it.
I got a magazine in the mail today. Real Simple. I like this magazine. The cover says - Organize Your Life. I need this magazine. I need to organize my life. I hope the info isn't stupid. I hate that. I need smart organization. Fast and smart.
But first I need to make some things. I remember waaaayyyy back when I started this blog that I actually put myself on a schedule to do things? To accomplish things? I was doing OK for a while. I just recently said that I was going to write stuff to do on a legal pad. Make a list. Follow it. I made the list. I lost the list. I found the list. It's the 'Get off your ass and do something creative list'. Seriously. It is. If I do something creative before midnight...this will be day 2. I'm on a roll.
I need to assist Husband in selecting a movie. No war. No guns. No cowboys. No cowboys with guns. No cowboys going to war with guns. Not even a water pistol. Something funny. Something I can watch while being creative. Hmmmmmmmmmmm.............Nash Bridges? (sometimes he has a gun) What Happens in Vegas? Maybe...It Could Happen to You?? Closer...
See you later...have a nice evening!

Back to the old grind
The old grind was literally nothing today! However, there was stuff to catch UP on!! A new bed frame...some plumbing crap...an electrical issue...enough that we didn't get to leave at noon!! And lots 'o people coming in.
When I got home, I washed some clothes, ordered some stuff on line and finished lunch! I have some business stuff to do tonight but am just not in the mood this minute. There is absolutely nothing on tonight, so I shouldn't be distracted later.
I ordered a couple of earring display racks. Not as classy as the bird cages that the one chick on line had...but cute. Not generic.
Husband is making me some more horsehair tassels for earrings so I can put some of those together. I need to look outside the box and see what are the most popular sellers NOW! I make what I like (which are not necessarily the best sellers) and limit my designs and colors. I think I need to be a little more extravagant in what I am doing. Bold! Unique! EXPENSIVE!! Maybe that's the ticket!! I look up so much stuff to buy...but not so much as to what is artsy. And considering that I live amongst the 'artsy fartsy' of visitors (not necessarily the locals) perhaps...well...you get my drift.
It was hot today. I'm thinking it's at least still in the upper 80's and it's 6:30 pm...and more heat on the way. Don't get me wrong...it's nice...but oh so dry.
Saw some hummingbirds at the feeders today. Yippee! The wind shattered one of the 'seed feeders' the other day. I need a couple more. And I have the sprinkler on in the yard.
Spose I should do something crafty now. Not sure what right this second. I'll let you know what chose...tomorrow! Nite!!

You can't handle the truth!!!!!!!!!!!!! (get it??)
I am not Juror #11. Or #41. But, hey! I am going to get a $20.00 check for doing my civic duty.
I got there on time and filled out my paperwork for 'payment'. The usual...name, address, and a multiple choice of - Do you want the entire amount of this payment mailed to you? Duh! Yes!! OR Second choice - Do you want to donate the amount of this payment to the Crime Victim's Fund? Duh! No!! And finally, Third choice - Do you want to donate it somewhere else that I already forgot? Duh!...Hell NO! You are damn right I'm selfish! And I have to wait for the check anyway. I would have taken it in quarters today if they would have offered it to me. They didn't even have any cookies! I missed Old Ladies day at Beall's! I missed Desperate Housewives this afternoon. $20.00 is a pittance for such profound discomfort!
Anyway...enough bitching. It was interesting. They called the roll first, and I'd say probably 35-40 people didn't show up. Guess what they got? A $75.00 fine! Snap!
Then, It was dismissal time. People with kids, caretakers, State/Federal employees, whatever. Then, it was lunch time and when we came back, there were 50 seated juror prospects and the balance of I'd say 50-60 more excused. I was seated. I was #11. The prosecutor for the Attorney Generals Office spoke first and tried really hard to explain his position. I don't think I would want him to EVER represent me!! He wasn't bad, just not real good at getting the information across.
Then, (lots of thens) the Defense Attorney spoke. His name is Mike Barclay, a local attorney. He is a Clarance Darrow type looking fellow. Older man, rotund and talkative. He sort of strayed off the subject by injecting some stories, but I followed his line of thinking. He asked a few people some questions and you could tell by their answers that they weren't listening to his question. Or should I say, the way he was asking the questions. I would want him as my defense attorney. It wasn't a complete 'baffle them with bullshit' issue...but more of 'think about what I just said...carefully..." issue.
For example, and I may be completely off base here, but this is how I heard and interpreted it.
"Do you think you can listen the testimony presented by the prosecution and defense, and be totally unbiased?"
I would answer yes.
"Now, If the Prosecutor presents the State's case against my client and there is perhaps the slightest bit of doubt, and remember, he must prove BEYOND a reasonable doubt that my client is indeed guilty, and I feel that there remains the slightest bit of doubt, I may decide not to present ANY evidence, witnesses or even my client on her own behalf...how would you vote? Suppose after the Prosecution rests...I, too, rest. How would you vote?"
That's a lot in one sentence. And I tried to remember it as accurately as he said it, as it was intentionally long and confusing. My opinion...not guilty. He was trying to impress that he was not obligated to have his client take the stand...at all. The lady he directed this question to, first, finally got what he was saying, but at first she said."But why wouldn't she want to be telling her side if she didn't do anything wrong? That's what I would be doing...telling everyone that I didn't do it."
Mr. Barclay said "Well, she told me". 'Nough said.
I thought that was pretty profound.
He said, " You are all here to sit and decipher the facts as presented. I am here to see that my clients rights are protected. And I am here to present her truth."
I was impressed by his statements. Whether she is found guilty or not guilty, I feel Mr.Barclay will represent her well. OK. That's all I have to say about that.
Stagecoach with John Wayne is on. I am not in the mood to read, watch TV, make anything or even look at stuff on line! I will go back to work tomorrow and start the old grind all over again. Damn!
Ate healthy 2 whole days in a row...miracle of all miracles. Tonight I am craving Jell-O. Go figure.
It's supposed to be 100 degrees on Thursday! Can you believe it...and it's only May. Spooky. I suppose I should check out some news online...I haven't seen any all day. Guess I'll sit back and relax a while. See you tomorrow...

Busy Busy...and what did I tell you!
Yes, it was a busy day. I didn't over extend myself by any means, but I am still tired. I have found a clean shirt which may become my official 'jury duty shirt'. We'll see.
Oh...and what did I tell you!!
"Are you eating what I told you?". Dr asks?
"Yes...and more". I answer honestly.
"Stop it...the MORE part". She admonishes.
"OK". I agree graciously.
Seriously, she said it was very important that I pay attention to my health. Critical, as the weather is getting hotter and drier and dehydration can be a serious problem. And, not just to me, but to anyone who spends a lot of time outside in our West Texas climate. Interesting. And even though I promised to change my habits, I need to keep a food diary. No cheating. (Can you believe she said that!!) She said she knew I was cheating...or I wouldn't have called her! Smart ass!!
I did well today. NO bread! No food products with flour. Protein. Fruits and vegetables in moderation. Damn I feel so friggin' healthy! I drank water! Lots of it. No soda (which I seldom drink anyway...) No sweet tea. Wanted it...didn't drink it! Oh well...day ONE!
I'm watching Little People, Big World. I used to watch it all the time, but it got kind of boring so I
started watching other shows. When Husband naps...I channel surf and watch shit like this. I saw a commercial a few days ago for this episode and I sensed conflict and tension in this family(!) do ya think!!...Could be a good show tonight. Kind of like...when you've see 19 Duggars...you thought you'd seen them all?? NOT!! I love my docile life.
OK...First half hour is over and it's boring...but I have to watch part 2 and see if 'Dad' can redeem himself.
I ordered a styrofoam head. I needed one. Well...I didn't have one and what better way to display hats...than on a head! I think I'll spray paint it since plain old white styrofoam is pretty ugly. Got to figure out a nice pleasing color. Something neutral and looks good with every hat. I must think.
I need an earring display thingy, too. Maybe a GIANT EAR!!!!!!! Kidding...I have several display racks in the mini storage but there is no way in hell I'm looking for them. I'll look on line tonight for something unique. I have a cigar box that I keep some of my 'craft show stuff' in. Stuff like small zip lock bags, tape, markers...that kind of stuff. I try to have everything made ahead of time and organized before I go to a show, so I need to start now figuring out what I need. I shall start THE LIST. The dreaded list.
Well. I s'pose I should walk the walk while I'm in the mood. Onward to Amazon! Nite.

Priming for dreadful Monday
Another day another bunch of dollars. Health update...headache subsiding...it has leached into my shoulders and down both arms.
I am planning to call DR tomorrow. I have a feeling I know how the conversation will go.
'Have you been following your Fybromyalgia diet?' she asks with sincere concern.
"Of course," I lie.
" Are you lying" she asks, as I feel her eyes narrowing and voice heavily guilt driven, drilling through the telephone receiver directly into my brain.
"Of course," I tell the truth.
"Well, you realize the importance of sticking to the eating plan I gave you, other wise it's a given that you will suffer.....blah blah blah"....she continues sternly.
I hear her but my mind is wandering now. She is speaking, I am thinking banana split. I feel the pain shoot through my neck and north to my brain. I recap what I ate today. Never mind...not good. The banana (without the split) was the best thing. OK! OK! I caved! I am going to Fybro Hell (of which I am the reigning queen, remember) and I even said just yesterday, I think, that I was going to consciously take care of my health...honest.
I will start tomorrow. I mean it this time. Honest. Seriously. For real.
Speaking about bear hunting...I need to change the channel. Perhaps...Hoarding - It'll Kill Ya, sounds good. Makes me feel a little better about myself! Or Kirstie Alley's Fat Life - That will really pep me up!!
Well...I'll settle for Cheers. As a matter of fact. I think I'll watch it! Have a nice evening!

Headache...must be the barometric pressure
Damn! I was awake off and on all night with a headache. It was/is a migraine and I didn't pay attention to the symptoms of it coming on over the past few days. Remember that foggy feeling? I think it started then. And last night my eyes were blurry...once again, I blamed it on being tired. I ended up taking Excedrin Migraine...but it didn't work.
At least it was not too bad today. For me anyway. Bobbie and I ran errands for the Lodge first thing and had only towel laundry. No one checked out...It was still tiring but I'm glad I'm home early enough to pamper myself with a nap. I planned on making stuff...but I'm not even going to attempt it.
Called Husband and told him if Mary Ann & Paul called to go eat or whatever...count me out. Now you know me...and that just ain't me!
It was also over cast and a little drizzly off and on today, so the barometric pressure was no doubt a factor, too. It's just irritating.
Boy, isn't this weather awful! Between weather disasters and the oil mess...I feel very small in the world.
The bird feeders are up and Tom is sitting in the window waiting to see some activity. He sits on the desk and clicks his teeth and whimpers. I know he'd like to just dive out the window and eat the shit of them...oh well...the woes of the inside feline! Dream on kitty....
I think I'll put this up and lay down a while. Might be back later but don't count on it. Have a great afternoon!
