I feel it is inappropriate to say 'Happy' Memorial Day. So I will say God Bless you all.
I remember as a child, looking forward to the Memorial Day parade. As a toddler, a Brownie, a Girl Scout...We had the fire trucks, the high school band, Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, a float or two, our home town veterans proud and stalwart. The color guard. My grandmother riding in the Gold Star Mother's car...others marching to the cemetery for the reading of the roster of our veterans who so gallantly gave their lives. My family members. My friends. Then the sound of taps and the 21 gun salute. I'm not so sure it was 21 shots...I just know that I was proud to be a part of this ceremony and to this day it makes me so sad.
My cousin Susan and I would walk to the cemetery a lot in the summertime. We would go to the cemetery's cemetery for sad and decaying flowers, pilfer through them and put the best of the best on old, old graves sites that no one ever visited. Our grandfather, uncle and Sue's baby sister were right next to the water...Messalonskee Lake...and for lack of a better way to describe it...it was a peaceful setting. I always thought they had such a beautiful view. It made sense to me...as a child.
I still don't care for geraniums. They are the epitome of cemetery flowers.
I grew up in a great house. It was a Bungalow. Want to hear something funny? I didn't know that was actually the style of the house. I just thought a bungalow was, oh I don't know, just a word. Know what I mean?? My grandmother was a flower and plant freak. She loved African Violets, gardenias, Christmas cactus. She had a green hand...not just a green thumb! There was an orange tree in the living room. It never bore an orange...but the leaves tasted bitter like one (I chewed them a few times...just curiousl!) Did you ever see that movie Good Morning Miss Dove? She tells her students that ants taste like dill pickles. They do. I know....
I had to mow the grass when I got old enough to push the 'push mower'. I dreaded it...especially when I let it go too long because I was lazy. It's a bitch to push a push mower! And if it was too long...I had to rake it...bitch 2. But now...today...this minute...I would give all I have and then some to go home and push that mower.
We had a swing chair in the yard. Someday I'll have another one. It was magic to sit and sway back and forth in the cool of a summer evening. We a closed in front porch. On that Bungalow. My grandmother read the paper and drank coffee in the evening out there. It was eerie when there was a thunderstorm. The lightning just surrounded you on that porch, flashing in through the screens...pitch black. It smelled great. Fresh.
The garden outside was memorable. Starting in the earliest of spring, something was always blooming. Against the house itself...the crocus were first. How they could break through the crusty ice and drink in the sun...is a miracle. But that was the truest sign of spring. We could have a heavy spring snow storm with 3 foot icicles forming during the night and the next day when the sun would melt them so fast that the water streamed into each bloom, and they would flatten out under the weight of the water, only to straighten up pushing towards the sun when the flood was over!
I can close my eyes and see each and every flower there. I'll tell you about them another day.
Ciao...b

Lots of stuff on my mind...
By stuff, I mean a variety of things...some very important all the way down to insignificant. Depends on if you are me...or not. Some require an enormous amount of concentration and some...I can just sit here. I have spent the last couple of days on the very important stuff, and and am mentally drained. Unfortunately, there will be follow up stuff and I don't relish having to follow up. It will be OK. I have had to do too much research to make sure I am correct in what I am doing, and it tires me out. I don't feel really great. I know the heat has been bothering me a lot lately.
We did have quite a rain shower today...Some hefty thunder and lightning. Thank God it settled the dust around here! We had storms like this when we first moved here 5 years ago. Every afternoon we would gave a gully washer...and this went on for a few weeks! It hasn't done that since! At least we were done working today before the rains hit. And it was not as bad today as we thought it was going to be...only because quite a few of the 'rooms' didn't show up! Good for us...bad for business!
This internet service has been sporadic again, Maybe it's the weather, too.
And of course this is 'every war movie ever made is on this weekend' weekend. As long as Husband is awake...he is watching one. I think Band of Brothers comes on Monday evening. I like that series. Earlier we watched The Best Years of Our Lives. That is such a classic. I'm not really the Midway; Where Eagles Dare or Longest Day type of a person.
Wow! Dennis Hopper died today. I really liked him. And Gary Coleman! What is going on with these head injuries!!
Tom says Howdy...
Can you believe it's almost June!! Crazy...Well, I have a few things to look up before I lie myself down....Hope to be back tomorrow!! Nite!

Sweating like a WHAT! in church!!
I had yesterday off and worked harder than if I cleaned all the rooms here...twice...myself. I cleaned everything in my room! Well...pretty much. I still have a few things on the 'to do' list, but I made a severe dent in it!! You wouldn't think such a small space could get so dirty! Well it does. I got enough cat hair out from under the bed that I could have made TWO cats! I dust mopped and wet mopped and dust mopped and wet mopped again. I cleaned window sills, washed curtains, washed all the bedding including the pillows and when I went to plug in my cell phone last night to charge it, I must have forgotten to plug something in..cuz I had no power on my side of the bed. Tough shit. I was too tired to get up. I never even turned on my computer yesterday. I was a busy, busy bee!!
Remember when I was eating stuff out of the fridge so I didn't have to throw it out so I could defrost it?? I didn't find much more interesting stuff. Not interesting enough to eat, anyway. I found a Banquet TV dinner encased in ice. And a package of mystery meat. And it's amazing how small a head of lettuce gets when it's all dried up!! I found one. I know. The freshest thing in there now is a container of cottage cheese.
I though it was going to rain tonight. It still looks like it. I got a couple of things done outside today. Hung up 2 more bird seed feeders and planted 3 plants I got yesterday morning (before I became Nellie the Neat Freak) I can't remember what they are. Asters?? That sounds right. They are pretty. That's all I care about. And that is the extent of my gardening. I had great planting plans earlier is spring, remember?? I need some herbs, Herb.
From Here to Eternity is on. Seen it a million times. Now, a million and one. I hope to stay awake tonight to watch The Hangover. It's on at 11 pm. We'll see! Now I'm thinking about cottage cheese. I don't care if you are going...oh puke! I wouldn't eat that crap! I'll eat it. I like it. And I have those raisin grapes (only a few left) Sounds like a good healthy snack! And Jello for dessert! Yummy!!
Albino Francine has a new hat. But not a new mocha latte or Nice and Easy #117 head yet. Maybe tomorrow.
Sort of a long day coming up tomorrow...so I am off to the shower and then food. Have a great night!

Monday for real...
What a day. I told you I wouldn't be home by 10...and I wasn't. I could have been home earlier than I was, but I was catching up on a few things. I'll be off tomorrow - a do nothing day for me! Yeah right!! I already have a full page list o' things to do. But at least I won't get up till I want to!
We have a few errands to run...whenever.
Here's something exciting that happened to me today! A bird SHIT on my head!! No shit!! I mean...yes shit!! Interesting sensation. I have had a seagull shit on my back when I was little...but that was many moons ago. Today was, should I say, totally unexpected! I will be using those really nice towels I got to take care of the problem in a little while after I scrub the skin off my head. Now don't get excited, I wiped the fresh stuff off and it was a pretty small bird...so I wasn't in imminent gunga danger (I hope!)
Damn! This internet is going on and off again. We have a pretty good thunderhead to the south of us right now, so I'm sure that has something to do with it.
That movie...The Pacifier...with Vin Diesel is on. It's a cute family flick. I have started albino Francine's new hat and will no doubt finish it tonight. I'm not in a jewelry making mood. I'm more in a Twinkie eating mood...but I don't think that's wise. I don't have any, anyway, so that's a plus.
I think I need to make some Jello. With sugar. Sugar free is an oxymoron. It's like fat free ice cream...give me a break. Fat is flavor.
I found some grapes in the refrigerator. They are still sweet and a couple days away from raisins. I need to finish those. I am planning to defrost this refrigerator, so I might as well start early in emptying it...God knows what I'll find in there tomorrow! (It's on the list!)
OK...I'm going to crochet now...see you tomorrow!!

Never plan ahead...
See...I planned ahead. I thought I'd be home by noon. Guess what...I wasn't! And I thought that tomorrow...I would be home by 10 AM. Guess what....I won't! Whatever....
It was busy today...but not too busy to go to the store!! We had to go to Alco (our Wal-Mart wanna be...) and I found a few things I really wanted. A pair of jeans...marked down AND 30% off! and some really nice bath towels...3/$10...that are plush and nice. I am a happy gal.
Made some dumplings tonight. Meat filled dumplings that you steam. They were good. Husband loved them. They were very filling and quite a bit of dough. To me, anyway. Don't get me wrong...they were good and anything Husband will eat is a very good thing. He is pretty restricted in what he can eat and what 'agrees' with him...and these do. Yippee!
I am finishing this post on Monday...and will write Monday's in a minute. There were storms all around us last night, and we kept losing power...and internet. I finally just gave up.
On to Monday...

Holy crap I'm full!
Family came to town. Went to visit with them and started out with a margarita. Then we went to dinner at La Casita...and had green chicken enchiladas and TWO margarita wine coolers! Definitely not as good as a real margarita....but went down just as easily!! Now I am so thirsty that I have drank 3 bottles of water. I think I need a Tums chaser...
Not a bad day at work. Hot and breezy. Storms seemed to be around us tonight. I think we have a chance of rain tomorrow. I hope so.
We are watching The Westerner...with Gary Cooper and Walter Brennan. It about Judge Roy Bean and Lillie Langtry. Gary Cooper is a wonderful actor. He was amazing in Sergeant York.
Did nothing on my 'list o things to do' since we had company. I have to paint Francine. I wonder if I could paint her with Nice and Easy #117! Then we could match! I mean...we could if I'd ever put that shit in my hair...That's a good idea. I could call her...Sweet Francine One Seventeen. Catchy.
Damn, I am really sleepy all of a sudden. Seriously sleepy. I think I'll close now and catch up on some needed sleep...sorry! Nite...

I fixed it!!!!
I know this is anal...but I had to tell you!! I fixed it!! That f*#king magnifying issue??? Well, there is this button, see, that says 'view', see...and there is a thing called ZOOM!!! By the sheer grace of God and morbid curiosity...I pushed the button and .....viola!!!...I reduced the print!!
Actually...I reduced it to almost nothing and then increased it so large you literally couldn't see anything...I just had to screw with it when I figured it out.
Guess what? Now I can adjust my desktop computer. I have the same problem with it, only the letters are small! Don't ask. At least I'm consistent!!
Oh well...I had to share my excitement. Oh, yeah, I don't care if you knew how to fix it all along...I had to find out for myself....right??

Mentally Distressed
I had a long day. I am mentally distressed and socially unacceptable tonight. Actually, I have been this way all day...come to think of it. It was hot and humid. I didn't eat anything until tonight (not smart) and I am just now feeling like the fogginess is lifting.
Consequently, I did nothing artistic or crafty. Don't care. I was going to take a picture of Francine in her au natural albino state, but I didn't. I need to give her a color makeover, so I want before and after pictures. I'm thinking mocha latte. I hope spray paint doesn't eat styrofoam. We'll find out. She looks like she has a good head on her shoulders!!
I still can't figure out the magnifying button on this netbook. All I know is that touched something...see...like this...I didn't touch the Italics button directly, but all of a sudden...there it is! Hell, I don't know. And I tried to look up what the characters mean on this keyboard, and I still can't figure it out. Everything is just bigger. I'll figure it out eventually. (Yes I went to the 'change the font/resolution center'...!!)
I know one thing for sure. It's not very busy here for the next few days. Memorial Day weekend is a bitch...but I am certainly grateful to be doing next to nothing right now. We have family coming to visit...actually they are coming a few days early, so at least I'll have some time to spend with them without being rushed.
We had another storm alert earlier...but only possible tennis ball sized hail! It went east of us but the sky sure did look ugly.
I need to go so I can order a bamboo steamer. Husband has decided to make Dim Sum and various other steamed stuff. I have a bamboo steamer...but it is in that dreaded mini storage that I refuse to enter without a court order! The topic of sushi came up in 3 separate conversations today (huh, Sara!) so I think dim sum/sushi night is coming! I am a california roll sushi maker (rice, green onion, avocado, carrot, cucumber). Veggie. But I add crab. Yummy! I enjoy making sushi as well as eating it. As a matter of fact...I used to make it weekly, but it's a time consuming process, so now, when I do make it, I make a lot.
I am off to find a steamer! Have a nice night!

Thirsty Thursday
Did you know that those big honkin' cans of Arizona Iced Tea have THREE servings in them? Have I said this before?? Well, they do...and I probably have. Tough. I'm telling you again. And is this part of the 40 glasses of water that I am supposed to drink everyday? I think so...so I did. I had the Raspberry one today...and yesterday I had the Half Green Tea/Half Lemonade. It was good...and I hadn't even seen the word LITE on it!! It is much better ice cold than if you let it sit out for an hour or two. At least the sweetener is Splenda (hence the LITE). Seriously, it tastes good.
It was hot and nice today. A beautiful May day. It is funny to see 63 for the morning low...
Made some earrings today. Need more. I came home to work on 'stuff'...and decided to spray the shower with Vanish Foam Cleaner...the strong Clorox smelling one. I thought I was going to die...still think so, but I'm getting used to it. Only took 6 1/2 hours to start to dissipate.
You know how I hate to waste food...well...I finished off some peach cobbler that I forgot was in the fridge. It smelled OK, so I ate it. I put a lot of cool whip on it....and then I took 3 Rapid Release Tylenol with all of my vitamins. I will pay for it...but it sure did taste good!! You know I never eat the right stuff!
Got a movie today...That Touch of Mink...with Doris Day and Cary Grant. What a classic! I think that is on the agenda tonight.
I think I'll check out a few of my earring design books. I need some inspiration. And I found out today that we have a new jewelry store in town! Not sure where it is yet...
Well... have a nice night!

Wednesday's are for chillin'....
Of course I wouldn't know anything about that!! It was busy and we got lots done. I hate the smell of Clorox.
I did some paper work when I got home and have pretty much done nothing since. Right now we are watching a repeat of the last episode of The Pacific. The mini series was awesome. This last part was sort of predictable, but very good....Episode 9 was very disturbing. We have watched Band of Brothers numerous times, and the part I can't watch in that series was about the concentration camp. There was nothing else on tonight...
Wait! I take that back...duh! We just watched a John Wayne movie that I had never seen...or even heard of! It was 'Trouble Along the Way'. Donna Reed was in it. JW is a former football coach who is bookie/pool playing single father and Donna Reed is the social worker who is investigating his parenting skills. He gets a job as a coach for a failing Catholic School. It's really a good movie! Very entertaining. Not sure what we are going to watch after this is over.
I need to get busy for the June 19th craft show. I have lots to do, but have lots to do it with. I just need some gumption. I need to not get involved in watching movies! Or writing! Or sleeping!
I need to find my legal pad with that list o' things to do...
Did I tell you, a long time ago, that I got that Dragon thing for the computer where you just have to talk to it and it writes on the computer? Or something like that? I can see it from here, but have never even taken it out of the box. I really need to check it out. Could be a valuable asset for me, don't you think?
They just had a commercial on for that movie..Taking Chance..which was an amazing movie...and it's going to be on HBO on May 30. It's the one with Kevin Bacon as a Marine who works in an office job, who accompanies a fallen Marine home to Wyoming. It's based on a true story...I saw it months ago, and will definitely watch it again.
I guess I'll close it up. Later!!

my weekends seem to be 4 days long...
I can see that it's been since Thursday since I wrote anything. It's been since Thursday since I read anything!
I am going to write backwards. You know, from today back?? I know you know what I meant. OK...here goes.
Let's see...what did I do today....oh yeah...almost no work today. Thank God. We did catch up on stuff, though. Started out going to the dollar store for things they didn't have anyway. Only had a couple of 'outs' but caught up on changing out shower curtains, spraying tons of Clorox in showers (we do this all the time...but when no one is coming in...we drench them,) made a few alterations in linens, catch up stuff. And then left. I came home and put up the rain gauge, cleaned up a very little and warmed up leftover Jamaican jerk chicken for supper. I have no plans for the evening except a shower. That was today.
Monday...Day started early with Husband making breakfast for the guests. Texas Toast french toast, sausages, fruit platter...they ate it all! These guys are really great and love all the meals. Makes you feel good. They didn't get gone till after 10.
Had several outs, but I went with Husband to an appointment for benefits for our friend Jack. Husband is doing a great job lining up things for him. Jack is doing better, but has a long healing road ahead of him. We were only gone 45 minutes, then came back to work.
Then...the weather changed. It clouded up, blackened up and tornadoed up! The weather channel was going nuts! Brewster County and the City of Alpine were mentioned by name as 'possible tornadic activity'. We definitely got rain and some hail...but south of us was hammered! As the storm moved south, the hail got bigger!! My friend David called today and said they got smashed. His sweet wife Gwen writes a blog (she is how I got started!) and I need to see if she has posted photos. The hail went from pea sized to marble, quarter, golf ball, base ball and softball. By the time it was 11 miles south of town...it was definitely softball! I can't even imagine!! Rumor has it that a tornado touched down...and I can verify that we had lots of wind and lightning. Quite a day.
The bulk of the bad weather was over by 6. Then, LeAnn, Jake and Martin came over. LeAnn is leaving Wednesday morning at 8:30. I am going to miss her very much. She is also friends with Jake and Martin, so we had a small 'see ya' party with Pizza and beer. Jake brought a chocolate cake and potato salad. Lee Ann is having it for breakfast! We laughed and told lies and hugged. She will be back every month or so to visit her Grandpa so I'll see again soon...and she will be reading this (I hope) on a regular basis...so I will only say nice things about her!! (I miss you LeAnn!!)
Sunday...extremely busy day. 19 rooms of people left. It was so tiring. This job is so tiring. I need to make a life change. I sure didn't move here for this...oh well...anyway. Even though it was a very long day, we were done by 5:00.
I had gotten up at 7 and put breakfast casseroles in the oven and went back over at 8 and made Blueberry Muffins. They all ate and took off for parts unknown. Husband started marinating the Jamaican Jerk Chicken, and I made some Jamaican Rice. It is quite interesting. I used brown rice, kidney beans, coconut milk, finely minced jalapeno and scallions...lots of spices (Thyme and Allspice) some brown sugar. It was actually quite good! It was one of the guys birthday so Husband got a carrot cake (birthday guys favorite) and they had fun. I normally would have made a cake from scratch...but not this time.
Home by 10:00 and asleep by 10:01. Woke up at 4:30 am and couldn't go back to sleep!! I hate that!
Saturday...Fixed biscuits (with left over biscuits from night before!) with sausage gravy, scrambled eggs, fruit platter, juice and coffee fro breakfast. They started out with Bloody Marys. Breakfast was over by 9:00 and I went to work.
Lots of people staying over, lots leaving, lots coming in...Lots of work. Long day. Got home by 4:30 and took a long hot shower. Husband was making them steaks for supper and I fixed baked potatoes with all the fixin's and Wedge salad. Made Brownies for dessert. Triple chocolate chunk brownies....verrrry good!
Friday...Busy. No shit. Made Bourbon Glazed Orange Pork Chops with Rice Pilaf. Very tasty. Peach cobbler for dessert.
It looked like rain...but I can't remember if it did or not. I don't think so. Oh yeah...there were quite a few people staying here for graduation for the weekend. I think that was the past few days in a nutshell.
Now I can try to get back to some 'me time'. Which means that I don't have to cook anything for anybody! I never did make Francine a hat. Need to do that. The movie, The Hangover is coming on tonight. It's supposed to be funny. I hope so! I'm in the mood for a funny movie.
Tom is watching the birds at the feeder. Those little suckers can get on that thing and eat while spinning it around like you can't imagine! I took a couple of flower pictures today. Sort of like the last rose of summer.
I guess I wrap this up and check email and read some news. Have a nice night!!

Thursday - beautiful day - so much to think about
Beautiful day...cleaned stuff...came home...blah blah bIah...
I can't believe that I take the time to write this when I have SO much to read and think about! I have just looked at my 59 SPAM mail messages...I had NO idea!!!
Did you know that Lavonne Peck wants to hear about my success stories with Viagra? And that I can actually 'lose my love handles?' Here's another...POLICE are NEEDED!! SCHOLARSHIPS are available!! senada dervisevic (who, like me, doesn't use a capital letter in her name) is filing bankruptcy and needs my help? Can you believe it!! And poor Rafael Shelton wants to 'confirm my receipt'...but for the life of me...I can't remember buying anything from him!! Well... I suppose I should spend the evening either looking at all the 'singles in my area'...or perusing the many, many, many grants available to me!!
Who'da thunk it. So much to do...so little time. Of course it just takes a second to press that 'delete' button! My favorite!!
I hooked up the new DVD player. It took...uuummmm...literally 5 minutes! It took longer to get it out of the box than it did to plug it in.
Husband and I had to go to the grocery store together today. We very seldom do this. He is the 'shopper' when he leaves for the day. However, we are preparing breakfast and dinner for some guests here this weekend. 3 breakfasts, and 3 dinners. These are repeat couples that pay VERY WELL for Husbands cooking. I think it's great that they prefer for him to cook rather than go out for meals, and he loves the cooking. Consequently, he plans the menu, I make out the grocery list and I go to make sure I get what I want for ingredients. Men sometimes/most times don't pay attention to detail (I know this as FACT!!) so it's easier to shop myself.
I had planned breakfast for tomorrow morning...but when the guests got here this evening...they were a 'couple' short so they asked if it was OK to postpone the first breakfast and start with the evening meal as the other couple would be arriving tomorrow. Not a problem!
I'm kind of glad. That way I can pretty much prepare the breakfast tomorrow night. I plan on making a Breakfast Casserole....hash browns, ham, eggs, grated cheese...more stuff...mix it all together and let it set over night. Then bake in the morning and serve with muffins and fresh fruit. I'd eat it!! (and I probably will) They eat at 8:00 so it doesn't interfere with work. Big deal if it did...I'd do it anyway. And they don't eat in the evening till 7:30. It's a great deal!!
I have some yarn on the bed. I am thinking about making a hat for Francine. I am watching Law & Order. It's been forever since I have seen an episode at night. Nothing is on...as usual. I need to take a shower. Oh...and press that 'delete button!'. Busy Busy! See you later!!

I thought it was Wednesday! Oh yeah! It is!!
Just a short post tonight...maybe...It wasn't a long or busy day at work...I was busy after I got home. Got those drawers cleaned out and lighter t-shirts all washed and put away! Closet cleaned...Rubbermaid tubs filled...letters written...nothing crafty accomplished but that's OK...and NO! Did NOT plug in new DVD player.
It's sitting here looking at me, though. Tomorrow is another day and since I was ever so industrious today...I don't even feel bad. So there.
Food update. I cheated. Surprise Surprise!! We got a club sandwich from Charlie at the Triangle Market today. It was awesome!!!! I could only eat half...which was seriously equal to a full sandwich! But there was bread. I couldn't help it. I was weak! I caved!! I'll pay with pain!!
It was windy again today. Not as bad as the other day. I understand that the gusts, which I'm sure was the contributing factor to the transformer blast, were up to 58 MPH. No doubt in my mind. We are supposed to get rain starting on Friday. Scatted and isolated showers...go figure.
Told you it was going to be a short one. Have a nice day!!

I thought it was Wednesday! Wishful thinking...
Can you believe that? I really thought it was Wednesday all day!! I have no idea why...doesn't matter anyway. At least I won't be disappointed tomorrow...
Worked and went to the store today. Got 'stuff' and my personal favorites...Rubbermaid Tubs. I needed to clean out my drawers (remember?) but when I got home I discovered I had another white t-shirt...so I postponed the 'big clean' till tomorrow! But the tubs are right here....right beside me!!
Got the new DVD player coming tomorrow (thank you Amazon!!) so the plan is...hook it up. Since I never use it, don't care to use it, didn't get anything stuck in it or break it...I am sure I will be the lucky one to hook it up! Not a problem...I will just do it when Husband is not here! Simple!!
But this will be the comments when it's ALL hooked up...
"Jesus Christ...why doesn't this piece of shit work...I just got used to the other piece of shit...why didn't you get the same kind as the other one. Son of a Bitch...Which button opens this piece of shit."
(Visualize this...Husband pushing down on the button with his thumb while simultaneously saying OPEN! OPEN! OPEN! God damn it!) He thinks orally demanding that it work is much more effective than just pushing the button! Don't you think???
SO...when the tray opens to put in the DVD and he says..."There!!..God damn it!!"
Oh I forgot..."Piece of shit!!".
That's how the new DVD player will work in OUR house!!
Here's how it broke. Did I tell you this already? Tough shit...I'm doing it again.
Scenario:
1:30 AM - Brenda, sweetly dreaming of cleaning toilets...only to be awakened by..."Honey...are you asleep??"
Idiot that I am...and evidently sleeping TOO soundly to not have enough sense to say "No, I'm not"...I say (groggily) "Huh?? What??? Are you OK??"
"Did you take the Victory at Sea DVD out of the DVD player??"
"Of course I did...I replaced it with 'The Complete History of Every F#@king World War Ever Fought' just 20 minutes ago!!" I say to myself.
"Of course not! I never touch that machine"
"Well...It's not in here!!!"
"I have no idea where it is."
"Well...it's not in here!!!"
"I have no idea where it is." I repeat.
"Well...it's not in here!!!" He repeats...again.
Jesus H. Christ. I am mentally beating myself senseless for answering in the first place.
"Oh...wait a second...it's stuck inside! How did that happen", he exclaims!!
"OK", says Husband. Do you have a small Phillips screwdriver??"
Now, I know I have said many, many times that nothing is on TV...but I could have used some help here at 1:30, I mean 1:45 in the morning! I mean just this once....but NO! So I got up...good wife that I am, and got a small Phillips screwdriver out of my tackle box (don't ask).
After what seemed like an eternity, with the additional help of a Leatherman, a butter knife and 546 prayers to the Mary Jesus...the dreaded DVD was OUT of the DVD player.
I have an idea! Let's put another one in there!! Good night!!
So, now when you close it, it clicks and sticks...Hopefully tomorrow I will rectify that problem.
Moral of this story...If ANYONE asks if you are awake at 1:30 AM...JUST SAY NO!!!
OK...I'm tired now and it's only 10:30. Going to go buzz some ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ's! Nite!! Thanks for listening!!

Explosive Monday!
Seriously! We were in the laundry room...and heard boom! boom! boom! We looked at each other and said "I didn't do that!!" and ran out side. Jennifer came sprinting from the office and said 'Did you see that??"
"Nope...but we heard it and have no power!"
A transformer blew up on the pole behind the back building! Considering the fact that the wind was gusting to 58 mph...it was amazing that it didn't catch stuff on fire! She ran back to the office and called the power company. Consequently...we had no power for a couple of hours. All is back to normal now, and even the wind has died down but it made for an interesting day.
And a post HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!! It was so busy and tiring yesterday that I just didn't write last night. I came home and took a shower and then we went over to see Mary Ann and Paul for a bit. We were all too hot and tired to eat, so we just enjoyed sitting in the yard in the evening breeze. Got home around quarter to nine and I just laid there. Zero ambition.
We thought today was going to be an early day, and it would have been except for that blowing up shit. Oh well. And then we decided to get lunch. We had green chicken enchiladas from the Triangle Market. I may have mentioned this place before. It's the Shell station convenience store. There is a small kitchen area inside with limited seating (and we always get take out anyway) and everyday, Charlie (who is a wonderful chef) offers a lunch special. Today it was the enchiladas and they were GREAT!! He opens his food service at 6:30 am and offers a variety of breakfast burritos, then starts his daily special along with HUGE hamburgers and several sandwiches, then closes at 1:00. Great choice today ~ great lunch! And it was only $6.99!! I will check my food list later and see what I was not supposed to eat!
I washed clothes this afternoon so I am all caught up. I need to pack up some of the shirts in my drawers. They are mostly thermal. It was almost 100 today, even though it was windy. I think may have mentioned a while back that I needed to do this...probably a few times, actually. Now I need light weight and light colored t shirts. I know I have some in a Rubbermaid tub somewhere. I'll write that on my To-Do List. I'll put it at the top!
I'm really not in the mood to do anything tonight. I should be...but I'm not. Maybe I'll just look up really important stuff on line. Or play really important games...yeah...that sounds good. Something to make me think...like matching 3 same colored cubes and blowing them up at just the right time!! AND beat the clock!!
Wait! Wait! I almost forgot the MOST important thing!! Guess what I got at the store today??? Can't guess??? FIZZIES!!!! Honest!!!! Well...they are called something else...let me go look.
OK...I'm back..they are made by Kool-Aid...I got the 'gigglin' grape' ones. They had fruit punch and lemonade. I am making one as we speak. hmmmmmmmmmm...sounds like a fizzie. Fizzes like a fizzie. Definitely not as good a a gen-u-wine fizzie. Shit! It has aspartame in it! NO...I didn't read it first. I'll drink them anyway and bitch about it. Only 5 calories!! I don't care...I was so excited to see a 'fizzie copycat'. Lesson learned.
I have visited a retro candy site and I know they still sell Fizzies on line. I used to LOVE the root beer ones! Hell..I used to drink Alka Seltzer cuz I like the effervescence....I was an unusual child.
OK...I am going to drink my aspartame and watch TV. Have a nice night!

Pre-mothers day...Happy Mother's Day
Well...Mumsy got her Mother's Day present! Now I ask you...is there anything better than food!! I THINK NOT!!! Food as in 'Edible Arrangements' OOOOOO yeah! They look so yummy...and I am guessing...as per her comments...they ARE!! Her comment..'.I hate to eat it!' My comment...'you better...or it will rot!' (sensitive, eh?)
I cut up strawberries and pound cake with a bowl of sugar for my supper. Equally as good!
Here's the problem in Alpine. An Edible Arrangement store would be truly amazing...extremely popular! However...to get superior fresh tasting juicy and delectable fruit here on a daily (even weekly) basis...would be a challenge! I would LOVE to make arrangements like that! Those would be THE gifts to give!! Even a good bakery, which we no longer have, for delicate, light and crispy pastries would be great. When 6th Street bakery was open...it was SO good! Now you have the grocery store and Little Debbie's. Actually, Marie Callender pies are a close second!
Not much on TV tonight. Know what I want to watch at 10:30 (pm)....Saturday Night Live. Know why? Because Betty White will be the HOST!!! It should be hysterical! There has been so much hype about it...if it was anyone else but her, I wouldn't care....but this should be good.
Not doing anything tonight. When I am done with this...I am going to lay back and relax! I'm not even sure what's on tonight until 10:30. I may take a nap.
Oh! I got my head today!!! It's white and staring at me...Haven't even put a hat on 'her' yet...I think I'll name her Francine. She looks French.
OK...time to rest. See you later!

Hot child in the city!!!!!
It was hot today! According to John Wells on his 'The Field Lab' blog it was 107 in Terlingua yesterday. Hot! That's hot I tell ya!!
Bobbie and I ran some errands for the Lodge today, deciding this was the best day to get them done...as today is LeAnn's last day! Damn!!! I am going to miss her. She isn't actually leaving Alpine until the 19th so I will definitely see her before then...but after that it's email and when she happens to come back to see her Grandfather. I am happy (and jealous) for her. She is off to a brand new life and her happiness is glowing. So it's back to Bobbie, Raven and me. Our remodeling days are over for a while. The business is great right now, so we will be incredibly busy for quite a while. Oh well.
I am full of chicken. And rice. Good meal. Now I am drinking raspberry tea and rounding out the night. I have some paperwork to do and then hope to make a few pieces of jewelry. Oh yeah. My 'head' has been shipped. The head that perhaps I shall paint.....BLACK????
I was gone for a little bit. Finished the paperwork I had to do to insure that I wouldn't forget it.
I got a magazine in the mail today. Real Simple. I like this magazine. The cover says - Organize Your Life. I need this magazine. I need to organize my life. I hope the info isn't stupid. I hate that. I need smart organization. Fast and smart.
But first I need to make some things. I remember waaaayyyy back when I started this blog that I actually put myself on a schedule to do things? To accomplish things? I was doing OK for a while. I just recently said that I was going to write stuff to do on a legal pad. Make a list. Follow it. I made the list. I lost the list. I found the list. It's the 'Get off your ass and do something creative list'. Seriously. It is. If I do something creative before midnight...this will be day 2. I'm on a roll.
I need to assist Husband in selecting a movie. No war. No guns. No cowboys. No cowboys with guns. No cowboys going to war with guns. Not even a water pistol. Something funny. Something I can watch while being creative. Hmmmmmmmmmmm.............Nash Bridges? (sometimes he has a gun) What Happens in Vegas? Maybe...It Could Happen to You?? Closer...
See you later...have a nice evening!

Back to the old grind
The old grind was literally nothing today! However, there was stuff to catch UP on!! A new bed frame...some plumbing crap...an electrical issue...enough that we didn't get to leave at noon!! And lots 'o people coming in.
When I got home, I washed some clothes, ordered some stuff on line and finished lunch! I have some business stuff to do tonight but am just not in the mood this minute. There is absolutely nothing on tonight, so I shouldn't be distracted later.
I ordered a couple of earring display racks. Not as classy as the bird cages that the one chick on line had...but cute. Not generic.
Husband is making me some more horsehair tassels for earrings so I can put some of those together. I need to look outside the box and see what are the most popular sellers NOW! I make what I like (which are not necessarily the best sellers) and limit my designs and colors. I think I need to be a little more extravagant in what I am doing. Bold! Unique! EXPENSIVE!! Maybe that's the ticket!! I look up so much stuff to buy...but not so much as to what is artsy. And considering that I live amongst the 'artsy fartsy' of visitors (not necessarily the locals) perhaps...well...you get my drift.
It was hot today. I'm thinking it's at least still in the upper 80's and it's 6:30 pm...and more heat on the way. Don't get me wrong...it's nice...but oh so dry.
Saw some hummingbirds at the feeders today. Yippee! The wind shattered one of the 'seed feeders' the other day. I need a couple more. And I have the sprinkler on in the yard.
Spose I should do something crafty now. Not sure what right this second. I'll let you know what chose...tomorrow! Nite!!

You can't handle the truth!!!!!!!!!!!!! (get it??)
I am not Juror #11. Or #41. But, hey! I am going to get a $20.00 check for doing my civic duty.
I got there on time and filled out my paperwork for 'payment'. The usual...name, address, and a multiple choice of - Do you want the entire amount of this payment mailed to you? Duh! Yes!! OR Second choice - Do you want to donate the amount of this payment to the Crime Victim's Fund? Duh! No!! And finally, Third choice - Do you want to donate it somewhere else that I already forgot? Duh!...Hell NO! You are damn right I'm selfish! And I have to wait for the check anyway. I would have taken it in quarters today if they would have offered it to me. They didn't even have any cookies! I missed Old Ladies day at Beall's! I missed Desperate Housewives this afternoon. $20.00 is a pittance for such profound discomfort!
Anyway...enough bitching. It was interesting. They called the roll first, and I'd say probably 35-40 people didn't show up. Guess what they got? A $75.00 fine! Snap!
Then, It was dismissal time. People with kids, caretakers, State/Federal employees, whatever. Then, it was lunch time and when we came back, there were 50 seated juror prospects and the balance of I'd say 50-60 more excused. I was seated. I was #11. The prosecutor for the Attorney Generals Office spoke first and tried really hard to explain his position. I don't think I would want him to EVER represent me!! He wasn't bad, just not real good at getting the information across.
Then, (lots of thens) the Defense Attorney spoke. His name is Mike Barclay, a local attorney. He is a Clarance Darrow type looking fellow. Older man, rotund and talkative. He sort of strayed off the subject by injecting some stories, but I followed his line of thinking. He asked a few people some questions and you could tell by their answers that they weren't listening to his question. Or should I say, the way he was asking the questions. I would want him as my defense attorney. It wasn't a complete 'baffle them with bullshit' issue...but more of 'think about what I just said...carefully..." issue.
For example, and I may be completely off base here, but this is how I heard and interpreted it.
"Do you think you can listen the testimony presented by the prosecution and defense, and be totally unbiased?"
I would answer yes.
"Now, If the Prosecutor presents the State's case against my client and there is perhaps the slightest bit of doubt, and remember, he must prove BEYOND a reasonable doubt that my client is indeed guilty, and I feel that there remains the slightest bit of doubt, I may decide not to present ANY evidence, witnesses or even my client on her own behalf...how would you vote? Suppose after the Prosecution rests...I, too, rest. How would you vote?"
That's a lot in one sentence. And I tried to remember it as accurately as he said it, as it was intentionally long and confusing. My opinion...not guilty. He was trying to impress that he was not obligated to have his client take the stand...at all. The lady he directed this question to, first, finally got what he was saying, but at first she said."But why wouldn't she want to be telling her side if she didn't do anything wrong? That's what I would be doing...telling everyone that I didn't do it."
Mr. Barclay said "Well, she told me". 'Nough said.
I thought that was pretty profound.
He said, " You are all here to sit and decipher the facts as presented. I am here to see that my clients rights are protected. And I am here to present her truth."
I was impressed by his statements. Whether she is found guilty or not guilty, I feel Mr.Barclay will represent her well. OK. That's all I have to say about that.
Stagecoach with John Wayne is on. I am not in the mood to read, watch TV, make anything or even look at stuff on line! I will go back to work tomorrow and start the old grind all over again. Damn!
Ate healthy 2 whole days in a row...miracle of all miracles. Tonight I am craving Jell-O. Go figure.
It's supposed to be 100 degrees on Thursday! Can you believe it...and it's only May. Spooky. I suppose I should check out some news online...I haven't seen any all day. Guess I'll sit back and relax a while. See you tomorrow...

Busy Busy...and what did I tell you!
Yes, it was a busy day. I didn't over extend myself by any means, but I am still tired. I have found a clean shirt which may become my official 'jury duty shirt'. We'll see.
Oh...and what did I tell you!!
"Are you eating what I told you?". Dr asks?
"Yes...and more". I answer honestly.
"Stop it...the MORE part". She admonishes.
"OK". I agree graciously.
Seriously, she said it was very important that I pay attention to my health. Critical, as the weather is getting hotter and drier and dehydration can be a serious problem. And, not just to me, but to anyone who spends a lot of time outside in our West Texas climate. Interesting. And even though I promised to change my habits, I need to keep a food diary. No cheating. (Can you believe she said that!!) She said she knew I was cheating...or I wouldn't have called her! Smart ass!!
I did well today. NO bread! No food products with flour. Protein. Fruits and vegetables in moderation. Damn I feel so friggin' healthy! I drank water! Lots of it. No soda (which I seldom drink anyway...) No sweet tea. Wanted it...didn't drink it! Oh well...day ONE!
I'm watching Little People, Big World. I used to watch it all the time, but it got kind of boring so I
started watching other shows. When Husband naps...I channel surf and watch shit like this. I saw a commercial a few days ago for this episode and I sensed conflict and tension in this family(!) do ya think!!...Could be a good show tonight. Kind of like...when you've see 19 Duggars...you thought you'd seen them all?? NOT!! I love my docile life.
OK...First half hour is over and it's boring...but I have to watch part 2 and see if 'Dad' can redeem himself.
I ordered a styrofoam head. I needed one. Well...I didn't have one and what better way to display hats...than on a head! I think I'll spray paint it since plain old white styrofoam is pretty ugly. Got to figure out a nice pleasing color. Something neutral and looks good with every hat. I must think.
I need an earring display thingy, too. Maybe a GIANT EAR!!!!!!! Kidding...I have several display racks in the mini storage but there is no way in hell I'm looking for them. I'll look on line tonight for something unique. I have a cigar box that I keep some of my 'craft show stuff' in. Stuff like small zip lock bags, tape, markers...that kind of stuff. I try to have everything made ahead of time and organized before I go to a show, so I need to start now figuring out what I need. I shall start THE LIST. The dreaded list.
Well. I s'pose I should walk the walk while I'm in the mood. Onward to Amazon! Nite.

Priming for dreadful Monday
Another day another bunch of dollars. Health update...headache subsiding...it has leached into my shoulders and down both arms.
I am planning to call DR tomorrow. I have a feeling I know how the conversation will go.
'Have you been following your Fybromyalgia diet?' she asks with sincere concern.
"Of course," I lie.
" Are you lying" she asks, as I feel her eyes narrowing and voice heavily guilt driven, drilling through the telephone receiver directly into my brain.
"Of course," I tell the truth.
"Well, you realize the importance of sticking to the eating plan I gave you, other wise it's a given that you will suffer.....blah blah blah"....she continues sternly.
I hear her but my mind is wandering now. She is speaking, I am thinking banana split. I feel the pain shoot through my neck and north to my brain. I recap what I ate today. Never mind...not good. The banana (without the split) was the best thing. OK! OK! I caved! I am going to Fybro Hell (of which I am the reigning queen, remember) and I even said just yesterday, I think, that I was going to consciously take care of my health...honest.
I will start tomorrow. I mean it this time. Honest. Seriously. For real.
Speaking about bear hunting...I need to change the channel. Perhaps...Hoarding - It'll Kill Ya, sounds good. Makes me feel a little better about myself! Or Kirstie Alley's Fat Life - That will really pep me up!!
Well...I'll settle for Cheers. As a matter of fact. I think I'll watch it! Have a nice evening!

Headache...must be the barometric pressure
Damn! I was awake off and on all night with a headache. It was/is a migraine and I didn't pay attention to the symptoms of it coming on over the past few days. Remember that foggy feeling? I think it started then. And last night my eyes were blurry...once again, I blamed it on being tired. I ended up taking Excedrin Migraine...but it didn't work.
At least it was not too bad today. For me anyway. Bobbie and I ran errands for the Lodge first thing and had only towel laundry. No one checked out...It was still tiring but I'm glad I'm home early enough to pamper myself with a nap. I planned on making stuff...but I'm not even going to attempt it.
Called Husband and told him if Mary Ann & Paul called to go eat or whatever...count me out. Now you know me...and that just ain't me!
It was also over cast and a little drizzly off and on today, so the barometric pressure was no doubt a factor, too. It's just irritating.
Boy, isn't this weather awful! Between weather disasters and the oil mess...I feel very small in the world.
The bird feeders are up and Tom is sitting in the window waiting to see some activity. He sits on the desk and clicks his teeth and whimpers. I know he'd like to just dive out the window and eat the shit of them...oh well...the woes of the inside feline! Dream on kitty....
I think I'll put this up and lay down a while. Might be back later but don't count on it. Have a great afternoon!
